Used prices for Trek DVDs - supply/demand

Why is it that Trek seasons on DVDs don't turn up too often at used DVD stores or pawn shops?

I saw a dozen Lost season 1 discs for about $10-12. at a local branch of a small chain of used electronics stores that sell DVDs.

I was lucky enough though to nab a STII: TWOK Sp. Collectors Edition DVD there though.
No Star Trek TV seasons though.

Is it a supply and demand thing? With the economy as it is people sell things for cash such as DVDs.

Lost is a current series. The early seasons in the used section are probably people who are new fans and wanted to get caught up. Once they were up to speed, they didn't need it anymore. They're casual fans. Once the show ends, they'll move on to whatever is the next "in" thing.

Trek is long term. Most people who buy it are buying it to keep.

i see them all the time in my area. usually find seasons of TNG used for $30 or so.

I've seen them pretty frequently. It's funny because at one of the local stores they have the used ones next to the new ones and the new ones are on sale cheaper than the used ones.

That's interesting. I bought my TNG sets in 2003-2004, and it was a good thing too, because I haven't seen them in any of my local stores since.

This was before Amazon got most of my business.
