US Top Gear Presenters Named

In a "Please please please let this be true!" twist, Adam Carolla is claiming NBC's Gear won't be censored by NBC.

While I'm sure they won't be able to get away with some of the stuff BBC's Top Gear does, this could be a major step in the right direction if it's accurate. It would've been utterly pointless if they just reviewed cars they liked. Somebody needs to review the Aveos and H2's of the world.

Less than 24 hours till the first new episode of season 11 for the BBC show. :D

Yeah, but the problem could be when they review the H2's of the world, they would say it is the best car ever due to sponsor pressure. In Top Gear, they don't like the car, they don't like the car, end of story.

Yeah I dunno about Corrolla. I've always been annoyed by him. He has his moments, but ehhh, I get sick of him after a while. Sorta like Tom Green. He's funny in a skit or two, but after like 30 minutes....somebody needs to turn the channel asap.

Carolla does seem to have the problem of being the "less successful" friend of the Kimmel/Carolla pair. I guess he's finally breaking out on his own.

I actually feel a lot better about the show after reading Popular Mechanics' interview with Adam Carolla.

The important stuff:

• The NBC adaptation will follow the BBC format: guest segment, stunt, test drive and, yes, the Stig (casting for that crucial role is still pending).

• The premiere episode will feature a race from Las Vegas to San Francisco, ending in a “mammoth stunt.” (NBC isn’t insisting on copycat stunts or episodes, a la Season One of The Office.)

• Carolla is pushing for an on-air drive of the just-unveiled BMW M1 Homage concept as soon as it’s available, as well as the Aston Martin DBS (though that would be a reprisal of a Clarkson drive).

• Clarkson and Carolla recently met face-to-face, but Carolla promises to focus more on improv than the heavily-prepared Clarkson.

• Officials from Top Gear in England, who are producing the show, along with “everyone involved,” have assured Carolla that he will be able to speak his mind on any car “without fear of reprisal” from advertisers, which he fully plans to do.
It's ultimately in the execution, but at least it seems like NBC doesn't have its head up its ass and is TRYING to implement things that will help their version be successful.

i for one enjoy Adam Carolla's quick wit and clever improv skills....his type of comedy may not be for everybody and i admit that he's actually better on his radio shows like Loveline or The Adam Carolla show than he is on TV....hopefully Top Gear will be his shining moment....he wasn't too bad on Dancing with the Stars and also I absolutely loved his movie: The Hammer

Im excited to see how Top Gear USA compares to the original...What i absolutely loved about the original Top Gear is more-so the production value and editing of the show itself. the cinematography is freakin awesom. they make it look so epic i hope NBC can emulate that.
