US Top Gear Presenters Named

Hermiod

Here. Never heard of any of them but they are Adam Carolla, Tanner Froust (who is apparently a stunt driver) and Eric Stromer.

:bolian: to NBC for not copping out and adding a good looking girl out of political correctness.

Now, will they add The Stig's American cousin Roscoe "Big" Stig to the set up ?

And for us Brits, a new series of Top Gear with good old Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow starts on Sunday on BBC2. :)

We're getting the Oz version in September.

From a TG Oz fanblog:

Top Gear Australia Presenters BBC motorsport commentator Charlie Cox, cartoonist Warren Brown and advanced driving instructor, freelance motoring journalist and race driver for Porsche Australia Steve Pizzati have won the highly sought-after job to host Australian Top Gear.
I’ve never heard of Charlie Cox or Steve Pizatti but Warren Brown is a great choice, I loved his work in the ABC TV series Peking to Paris where they recreated the original race 100 years ago with 5 cars identical to the originals, ready to re-create motoring history.

L to R: Brown, Cox, Pizetti

Brown's a good choice, he's a complete natural in front of a camera. Don't know the other two.

I'll give it a shot, but I'm still very sceptical about the idea.

In my opinion the reason Top Gear is such a great show isn't because the format is brilliant, but because the presenters are. Basically it's just three guys chatting about cars and fooling around...

Charlie Cox is great! He does the MotoGP live commentary with Steve Parrish for the BBC - and they're hilarious as well as knowledgeable. Cox is a very funny guy, and I think he'll be great for Top Gear in Oz.

:D

Ugh.

Adam Carolla.

He could ruin the whole thing.

My thoughts exactly.

The hosts are the LEAST of the NBC version's problems. Carolla and Stromer apparently get along really well and have chemistry together which is a plus.

Only reviewing cars they like to avoid pissing off sponsors (as Carolla mentioned on his radio show) is a far more significant problem, IMO. Clarkson calling the Nissan Micra a scrotum and his love of Mustangs and being able to say practically anything he wants, good and bad, is a big part of the appeal of the BBC show and will be missed here.

Ugh. I hadn't thought of that. I've not been a huge fan of Carolla, so this just looks less and less appealing all the time.

I'll just keep watching the British version, thanks.

What I've loved about the clips on the British show is they are insanely funny and brutally honest
I've seen the Brit presenters rip the sh*t out of the British motor industry, slamming the fancy Jags, MG/ACs etc saying you'd be better off spending your money on a German or Japanese car

I fear the sponsor culture at NBC will not bode well for the show. But I'll check it out nonetheless.

I like the British show and have watched many episodes---and I don't even CARE about cars. The presenters have wit, charm, and are brutally honest and downright silly.

There is NO WAY that they can replicate this on the overly-sanitized, plastic, sponsor-driven network TV here in the US. Bleh. I'll stick with the one I see on BBCAmerica, thanks.

This show won't end well. Btw, Tanner Foust is the host of Supercars Exposed on SPEED. I dare anyone to try to watch a minute of that show, then admit that they didn't lose 10 IQ points.

I'll check it out if it does go to series, but when I think of Top Gear, I'll always think of Jezza, the Hamster, and Captain Slow. And I'm not even in the UK!

(I see some eps on YouTube...)

Everything about Adam Carolla just screams "I'm an asshole!". He looks like an asshole. His face looks smarmy even when he's not being smarmy. He creeps me out.

Pretty much.

He reminds me of the loud, abnoxious, borish guy you hear yelling with a mug full of beer in every bar on Saturday night.
