US Representative, at least 6 others killed

that graphic struck me too because I remember it actually making news a few months ago because people (democrats) were complaining that it seemed like Palin was subtly implying they should be 'taken out'. IT was accompanied by Palin tweeting that her supporters shouldn't tone down their rhetoric, but "RELOAD!". She was defended non-stop by the usual supporters.

It got yanked from the site today. There was a whole website built around it called "TAKE DOWN THE 20". Which either got yanked or crashed due to traffic. Gifford was one of only two or three people on that list who got re-elected.

As if it suddenly became "bad taste" TODAY and not the day before Congresswoman was shot.

NBC reported that a federal judge has been killed.

Guy isn't a terrorist... just a crazy guy... I never understood the difference...

Oh wait the guy probably isn't muslim.
 
I know she is a politician, but this is not a time for politics. Right now, our prayers should be with all those involved in the shooting today. I hope the congresswoman recovers and I wish the best for everyone else and their families.

Politics is the reason this happened!

Her Tucson office was vandalized a few hours after the House vote to approve the health care law in March, with someone either kicking or shooting out a glass door and window. In an interview after the vandalism, Giffords referred to the animosity against her by conservatives. Palin listed Giffords' seat as one of the top "targets" in the midterm elections because of the lawmakers' support for the health care law.

"For example, we're on Sarah Palin's targeted list, but the thing is, that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they have to realize that there are consequences to that action," Giffords said in an interview with MSNBC.

She saw it coming!

The shooting comes amid a highly charged political environment that has seen several dangerous threats against lawmakers but nothing that reached the point of actual violence.



A San Francisco man upset with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's support of health care reform pleaded guilty to threatening the Democratic congresswoman and her family, calling her directly on March 25 and threatening to destroy her Northern California home if she voted for health care reform.



In July, a California man known for his anger over left-leaning politics engaged in a shootout with highway patrol officers after planning an attack on the ACLU and another nonprofit group. The man said he wanted to "start a revolution" by killing people at the ACLU and the Tides Foundation.

This goes with the IRS plane bombing last year, that's three confirmed cases of right wing nuts trying to kill people, or actually killing people, because of the republican propaganda.

Is today the day to bring this up? Not really, that would have been yesterday, or 2-3 years ago when it started.

Now we have a judge dead, an aid dead, a 9 year old dead and two others. Plus let's be realistic, the congresswoman was shot in the head, she will never be the same.

Yes it's better now to call people out than the next terrorist attack.

I've not been a big fan of Palin, but comments like this, especially under these circumstances, tend to make me view her much more favorably. Oh, and I guess that goes for her "ilk," too.

The day he was shot? No. It needed to be a day for mourning. Just think back to what Bobbie Kennedy said on that day:

What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but is love, and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black.

So I ask you tonight to return home, to say a prayer for the family of Martin Luther King -- yeah, it's true -- but more importantly to say a prayer for our own country, which all of us love
 
Everyone, let's leave the attacks and the hatred out of this. This is a day for mourning and prayers, not hatred.

Also, the judge killed was the senior federal judge in Arizona. If his name is familiar to you, it's because this is the same judge who presided over the trial of the men who killed an Arizona rancher on his ranch a couple of years ago when he tried to prevent illegal border crossings.

News reports here have 6 dead and a total of 18 victims. There are also reported to be three suspects. Giffords' office has also just been evacuated (bomb).

Pima County Sheriff's Office now reporting 19 people shot. 6 dead including a 9 year old girl.


Yeah that was reported before, with the judge and the aide, so horrible.

The sheriff also did a great job at calling out people who are flaming these nuts!

If you listen other stuff that this guy apparently said, it's clear that he was absolutely not right in the head.

Supposedly two of his favorite books were The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf--the irony being that if this guy fancied himself as some sort of anti-government guy, those are two of the most totalitarian things he could go for. Anyone with the ability to reason would see that.

But I think that those who are then inferring this guy's actions to normal, law-abiding conservatives are being completely despicable. The reasonable conservative does not want to see harm brought to any politician, whether Republican or Democrat. Not only is it a disgusting act on principle, but our system thrives on the ability to disagree with each other civilly. NOT on blood. The reasonable person, whether liberal or conservative, knows this. Trying to use this insane wacko to paint all conservatives as murderers is completely out of line.

I want very, very much for Rep. Giffords to live, and not just to live, but to recover well.

Amen. She's got a reputation for being amoung the most well liked representatives amoung her peers on both sides of the aisle. We need more like her, both at the federal and state levels.

The Secretary of State was commenting earlier about discussing their families on more than one occasion....
