I was on imdb and looking at episodes ratings of the Star Trek shows. I agree with most except Discovery seasons 3 and 4. They are in the 5's and I am pretty sure what happened. The Discovery haters joined imdb just to give low scores. There is a group that are obsessed with Discovery in a negative way. Pathetic! That is disrespectful of the cast, Crew, and fans of Discovery. If you hate a show, that is fine. But just shut up Discovery haters.

Don't worry about what other people think. If you like it, that's enough. You get more from enjoying it than they ever will obsessively hating on it.

Personally I loved season 1 and 2, liked 3 and thought this season started strongly but there's been a string of episodes where not much has happened. I'm really hoping it improves for the last 3.

You can click on the score on IMDb to see a breakdown of how people voted. It seems that the percentage of people who've voted it 1/10 has doubled this season, which either means that you're right and Discovery haters are voting to trash the score, or it means the people who vote everything either 10 for good and 1 for bad aren't enjoying it as much.

According to Trek BBS's own episode polls, this season is the weakest so far but it hasn't fallen by much:
  • S1: 7.8
  • S2: 8.0
  • S3: 7.7
  • S4: 7.5
Personally I find that IMDb's episode ratings often match up pretty well to what you'd expect episodes to get, relative to other stories in the same series. If you take all the episodes and sort them by score you'll find all the City on the Edge of Forevers and The Best of Both Worlds up at the top and the Shades of Grays and the These are the Voyages... down at the bottom. But I have noticed certain series (Doctor Who, Discovery) getting hit really hard recently, with numbers consistently far below the range you'd expect.

I never pay attention to imdb ratings. It is a cesspool of haters. It even made the news when those who were butt hurt by how GOT ended signed up for imdb just to vote down the last few episodes, resulting a series that had super high ratings for most of its episodes getting low rating for the last few. I think the same thing happened with the last 2 SW movies (which I personally thought were pretty bad).

There's YouTube Channels and certain "personalities" that devote most of their time to trying to spread hate and get their followers to downvote shows/movies on IMDb and RT........seems like a sad life. But they get clicks and YouTube money for it. I think sometimes they don't even agree with the crap they spread......but it makes them money.

I understand the removal of Discovery from Netflix in international markets, just days before the new season was due to 'drop,' led to an angry backlash, which could include people voting down the episodes they couldn't watch.

They REALLY shot themselves in the foot with that one. And then announced a Star Trek movie with a release date next December starring a cast who hadn't been contacted or contracted. And now it seems Strange New Worlds will have finished it's first season before Paramount+ comes to the UK (and many other territories). Dreadful is NOT the word.

And now I've gotta watch Pluto TV Friday nights at 9pm for my Trek fix. I haven't watched old school TV at someone else's schedule in YEARS.

And it has commercials.

Paramount TV networks and Star Trek have had a bad combination history since the late 70's when Phase II was going to be their keystone show.
