Update on DC Comics films from The Hollywood Reporter

I'm sorry, but someone at DC is smoking funny leaves if they think Jonah Hex is going to be a major draw. He's a Z-list character who only the most die-hard readers have even HEARD about.

You're exaggerating a bit.

I think in this case its more an interest in the setting than the popularity of the character. They're likely thinking John Wayne Meets Frankenstein.

and we have other issues with Superman that concern us."

I'd dearly love to know what those were...
I think it's the fact that nobody at WB seems to understand the Superman character at all.
More likely he's referring to the ongoing legal battle over the Superman rights.

I wasn't entirely serious about Miller, btw (though, again, they could do worse) - just a Prison Break nod, as you surmised. Might Josh Holloway be a good GA?
I figured you were being a bit tongue in cheek there with a Prison Break reference. While Cooper would be my first choice, Josh Holloway would likely make a good Green Arrow, too. He looks the part and he's got that roguish quality that GA should have.

I'm very happy to hear Geoff Johns has an influence on the forthcoming DCU movies. Did he have any hold on the Green Lantern movie? He should have written the damn thing :p

agreed..I loved his run on JSA. And I hope he gets the chance to move to the movie scene. I hope to meet him this weekend and let him know...Comic-con has arrived, almost, at my hometown...

^While Superman Returns, based on the most famous and iconic comics character of all, is generally perceived to have underperformed financially.

The same could be said of Blade, and even Iron Man to an extent. Hell, there are still people who don't know that Men In Black was based on a comic.

Hmm. Why does this sound familiar . . . ?
Hey, if I'm going to be expected to read every post in a thread, I expect to be paid more.

Edited to add: Most people don't realize that Men in Black II was, in fact, based on real life events - not a comic book. ;)

Whose asinine idea was it to cast Megan Fox in another movie? I'd rather watch Brolin run around wearing a halter top than that half-assed Jolie clone.

Blade yes, Iron Man not a chance. IM is a Marvel classic, founding member of the Avengers and has had his own book since the 60s.
You'd be surprised at how many legendary comic characters who are very well known to comic book fans are largely unknown to the general public.

Well, Iron Man did have some minor mainstream popularity in the mid-to-late 90s when Jerry and George debated on whether or not he wore underwear underneath his armor on Seinfeld.
