Upcoming Publications: October/November 2010

A reminder that the latest Captain's Log one-shot Jellico by me and JK Woodward hits the stands tomorrow, 20 October 2010, at finer comic shops everywhere (and probably most of the crappy comic shops, too.....).

Cool, do have any idea if/when it'll be coming out as a digital comic? I'm assuming it will, since both Sulu and Harriman are on the PSP digital comics page.

I never can keep up with the Trek Comics.

Who's putting them out atm IDW?

I was doing really well keeping up and then last year I had 'Real Life' intervene into Comic Book time and never got back into it. Still need to finish Blackest Night.

I don't know. The only place I've come across them is the PSP ones on the Playstation website.

How is this month (October) a reprint from 1992? What happened there?

Wait. What!

I quickly ran into a Barnes & Noble today and grabbed four new Trek books that were available, which is easy to do as they only have about ten titles on display, and one of them was Nightshade. A book I have already read.

Doh.

The very last Trek book I read was the 1992 Nightshade, #24 in the series.

Double-Doh.

I'm currently reading all the numbered TNG books and I'm on #25.

That reprint with its pretty cover is SO tempting!

Grrr, I love me my pretty books... Torn between pretty new cover of story I already have versus two or three old covers of stories I don't have yet from a used bookstore.

Sigh...

My hardcover copy of Simon Pegg's autobiography, "Nerd Do Well", arrived from Amazon UK today. Lots of ST and SF Media snippets. Pegg was an avid fan of TAS, mainly because it was a better alternative to TOS (the Balok puppet, briefly seen in many of the closing credits of TOS, scared the daylights out of him). He also mentions loving ST:TMP, and finally playing opposite Nimoy in JJ's ST, with Nimoy calling him Montgomery Scott. There's a great shot Pegg took of himself, as Scotty in Starfleet uniform, in his caravan, totally convinced he'd be arrested for doing so.

Great book so far!

A bit late, but worth a mention... Propworks published an auction catalogue that doubles as a very nice hardcover coffee table book. The Official Star Trek Prop and Costume Auction 8-8-2010 has lots of colour photos and descriptions of stuff from the various TV series and movies. I ordered mine from the Propworks website; I'm not sure if it's available elsewhere.
