Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered this too.

Now bring on the Generations and Insurrection scores.

Not spamming, but wanted to leave a message here, just in case people miss it:

http://www.trektoday.com/content/2012/04/idw-publishing-july-trek-titles/

Star Trek comic for July is another mostly-new "episode"? Star Trek #11 (The Truth about Tribbles, Part 1).

Written by Mike Johnson, with art by Claudia Balboni and a cover by Tim Bradstreet, the new Enterprise crew “makes the acquaintance of everyone’s favorite cuddly, ravenously hungry, Klingon-hating alien creatures.”

I just remembered that Scotty had a Tribble on Delta Vega in the movie, so in this universe this won't be Starfleet's first encounter with Tribbles.

To be fair, neither was it stated that "The Trouble With Tribbles" was Starfleet's first encounter with them. Just because our heroes are unfamiliar with them doesn't mean they are entirely unknown. Indeed, in Enterprise, Phlox used tribbles as food for one of his creatures in sickbay, much to Hoshi's horror!

I guess, but I always got the impression in Trouble with Tribbles that they were some new critter than Jones stumbled across in his travels.

It's a big galaxy. Most people are unaware of a lot of animal species that exist right here on Earth, and that's just one planet. In a civilization with knowledge encompassing hundreds of planets, it's entirely plausible that a species like tribbles could've been known to some people for more than a hundred years yet unknown to quite a few others. Phlox was something of an expert in exotic animals anyway, so it's believable that he could've had knowledge and access to tribbles even if they were largely unknown to others.

My local SF bookshop, Galaxy in Sydney, Down Under, just emailed:

We now have in stock for you:
Star Trek: Forgotten History by Christopher L Bennett

Drat. I was only in the CBD yesterday. Back in I go!

Possibly a silly question, but is this list still being updated and/or maintained? Or is there simply something of a drought in new Trek releases as of late?

^ The problem is that our esteemed mods seem to be super-busy lately and haven't gotten around to making new sticky threads with the correct month names. Releases continue monthly, with March and April having seen the releases of That Which Divides and Forgotten History, respectively (and of course we have review threads for those). Next month we will get Plagues of Night, first in a duology, and July will even see two novels, Raise the Dawn (concluding the duology) and The Assassination Game. You might also like this link.

All in all, there's no kind of draught. We've got a novel per month until at least February 2013 in the schedule, and some months where we get two, or the novel and an ebook-exclusive release (that's right, S&S seems to be ramping those up again).

I saw Rosalind in person a few weeks ago. She was dreading a frantic time approaching and it must still be keeping her busy.

The "Upcoming Productions" page of Memory Alpha, linked in several posts above, is quite good and I think Rosalind usually takes excerpts from that frequently-updated page for this stickied thread.

Most months this year have brought us a new novel plus two IDW comics, and that trend seems to be set to continue. Around Sept/Oct, several new factual books are also coming.

Thanks for the information, Sho and Therin! Heh. I was just curious because I'd come to rely on the list here for upcoming release dates. I imagine it's always good to diversify one's resources.

Most of the other lists are already up to January and maybe even February of next year. I usually use one or both of the Memory wikis to see what books are coming up.
