Upcoming Publications: January/February 2011

Or we've switched over to ebooks.

Yeah, I have an e-reader with a lot of ST novels loaded, but I guess I'm just a hold out for classic physical media. I wish that when you purchased a physical book, that you also got the option of downloading the ebook, but I guess that's no way to make money.

That's come up here before, and I do agree with you that it would be cool.

Baen is doing that, somewhat. If you get book 2 in some of their series, they include a code to get book 1 in a ebook.... :bolian:

Wow, that's awsome. You can tell Baen obviously gets Ebooks, because not only do that but they also have a website where you can get a huge selection of their books as free ebooks. I just wish more of the companies got them as well as they seem to at Baen.

Baen's e-book website ( http://www.webscription.net/ and http://www.baen.com/ ) is the best place on the net for e-books. I can buy kindle formatted books for a much lower price than amazon, and I can often get the first few books in a series free (plus great e-book bundle deals and getting to read some books before their release date). :bolian:

Baen can probably make it work because they publish in particular SF niches that no one else really bothers with much (right wing stuff, military stuff, etc). If you like that sort of thing, chances are you really like that sort of thing and you'll stick with them and throw some money their way. It wouldn't necessarily work so well with other publishers appealing to broader audiences.
