Upcoming Kit Releases

Thought you'd like to see this:

Interestingly, the only new kit I see is a 1/2500 2009 Enterprise, which would seem to put it in scale with the other 3-Ship-Set Enterprises. On that note, I noticed there's only one 3-Ship-Set, reshuffled to include the smaller E's. The larger ones seem to be sold separately ($$$). Too bad there's not a 1/2500 NX-01 to complete the collection. I don't see an Akira, or a larger (1/350) 2009 E, but the smaller one bodes well for a larger scale version -- which, I believe, has been announced.

Happy modeling!

Well, a 1:350 ST-09 ship wouldn't fit through my front door, so that's just as well...

Funny that they're finally bringing back the "Interplanetary UFO". Always thought it was a munged-up Botany Bay when I was a kid - the box looked so much like the other AMT Trek kits.

Well, that was by intention... but that wasn't the first time that model had been put out.

In fact, this ship is the "Leif Ericson" (spelling may be off), remolded in glow-in-the-dark plastic and repackaged.

Si. The Leif/UFO was designed by Matt Jefferies, who also designed the Botany Bay, so there was bound to be similarities.

Can't wait to get me hands on a few for kitbashing. I've been afraid to build the one original UFO I have.

There's also a buttload of new sci fi kits coming from Pegasus Models:

And Moebius Modelsis cranking genre kits out like there's no tomorrow:
nuBSG Viper 2 in 1/32 is coming along nicely, may even hit shelves in December. In the works now is a NuGalactica in the same scale as Monogram's old series kit (same size as the Timeslip resin kit, so 13" long or so), then a 1/32 Viper 7 and a 1/6 Cylon Centurion. The upcoming 1/35 Jupiter 2 (TV Lost in Space) was on display - the interior (upper level only) looks very well done. Nice big kit, too - bigger than the old PL one. The landing gear/claw for the big 1/32 Flying sub are very crisply cast ---
Moebius is also repopping the old Aurora Superboy and Wonder Woman kits, maiking new versions of their 1/24 LiS Chairot and Space Pod in 1/32 to match the new Jupiter II kit, and making (get this) a 16GB USB datastick in the shape of the Seaview. And their new Frankenstein should be in stores this week.

The genre plastic kit hobby is BACK, baby!

Also note the 1/1000 1701 Refit is coming out... I want a dozen for kitbashes.

Us fortysomethings are gonna snap up the 1966 Batmobile; this is the kit that was long held to be impossible since it would take reaching license agreements with seven copyright holders... Round Two found a way!

I live a twenty minute drive from Pegasus Hobbies and no, you can't come live with me while their new kits come out.

Figuerd I'd add some pics.

The two new kits are on the top left hand side (1:2500 NU-ENTERPRISE & 1:1000 scale NCC-1701-A)

And yes all of these come with AZTEC DECALS!

One thing to pay note to here... note that the "big ships"... the Galaxy, Sovereign, and Ambassador... come by themselves in the 1:2500 scale, while the "smaller" ships... the TOS and TMP Enterprises, and the 1701-B, are small enough to require a "group set." No surprise there, especially for any of us who already bought the prior packaging of these models.

What I notice is that the ST-09 Enterprise is in a box by itself at 1:2500 scale. This infers, quite clearly, that the ship is at least as large as the Ambassador class, and probably more in the range of the TNG ship. Which is what we've all been led to believe from other reputable sources. Seems that R2 is using that ship size assumption, doesn't it?

The NU-ENTERPRISE will be Eleven & half inch's long.

Making it longer than the Galaxy class at that same scale... yep.

Got any higher res shots of that 1-foot TMP Enterprise? Wonder how it compares to the Art Asylum WOK release (which I think is 16 inches) in terms of detail? I have that AA ship and really like it. Is that TMP model ship a re-release? Anyone build it?

No, the 1/1000 TMP model is brand new, not a rerelease, and it's not out yet. The only person who built it is whoever built that one in the pictures.

btw, they say the aztec decals will be a lot more subtle than the test samples.

For those that dispute the gigantic size of the 2009 re-imagined Enterprise, the "1/2500 scale" re-imagined Enterprise kit should display very nicely with the 1/1000 scale Original Enterprise kit (and the 1/1000 scale refit).
