Unusual Given Names

I'm quite taken with Miracle Laurie's name, amongst other things about her. :)

There was an actor who used to be in Oz named Malé Baby Alexander. The credits said 'e' instead of 'é'.

A colleague´s kids are named Brooklyn and Cheyenne. Not exactly common names over here.

I, who also has an unique name, hate unique names. It is so far a life time of correcting people, informing people that I know how to spell my name, and telling people that my mother was not a flower child.

I come from a long line of Williams, Fredericks, Davids, and Donalds, there was a couple of Frederick Williams as well.

Yet, my awesome mother took my dad's name, a good ole Latin, Terrence, took out the n, and sentenced me to a lifetime of interacting with the truly moronic people that exist out there.

I cannot wait for a NA kid to have the name New York, London, and Lincolnshire as first names or maybe United States, England, Wales, or Russia as first names.

Our ex-neighbour's son was legally called Stone. What's the bet his nickname will become 'Stoner' in high school?

how about someone famous?

Moon Unit Zappa.

Daughter of rock star Frank Zappa.

That name is so cool!

I wonder how cool she'd have thought it was if she wanted to go into law, or some serious occupation.

Don't get me wrong, I love Frank's music, but it's wrong to saddle a kid with a crazy name just for a joke, or some sort of social commentary.

^And don't forget Dweezil Zappa.

As a teacher, I've heard all kinds of unusual names:
Quriosity, Reality, Marvalous (sic), January, Eunice (male), Xumonia, Little Moses...and those are just from the past couple of years!

^And don't forget Dweezil Zappa.

Dweezil actually had a more sensible name on his birth certificate (Ian Donald Calvin Euclid Zappa) because the hospital refused to register him as Dweezil. However when his parents took himj home they just called him Dweezil and it wasn't until he was 5 years old that he discovered that Dweezil wasn't his real name. He insisted that the nickname should be his legal name so it was legally changed.

Moon Zappa says she loves her name.

I wonder how cool she'd have thought it was if she wanted to go into law, or some serious occupation.

If she was a lawyer, or went into another serious occupation, she could just change her name. It is very easy to do.

My brother's name is Richie. That is what was on his birth certificate. It isn't short for Richard. However when he became a lawyer he start to call himself Richard (and I assumed he also legally changed it) because he decided that Richie was too childish for a lawyer.

My wife and almost... And I mean ALMOST named our daughter Cartagia..

But we chickened out and went with Chloe.

However, our sons name is Miles Felix. At the time we didn't think about it. but he's our little MF'er....

I met a kid named Haig once (pronounced hag). I suspected that his parents hated him.

My girlfriend's name is Siobhan, which I suppose isn't that uncommon in Ireland.

 That's great.

I had a friend in high school named Annashay. Her last initial was S. The reason for her name was that her parents originally wanted to call her Anna Shay, but soon realized what her initials spelled.

My niece is named Kearah. Originally it was going to be Kira, after the DS9 character but my mom, Kearah's grandma likes to fiddle with the spellings of names. As does her sister who goes by Souix, legally "Sue".

I have four god daughters. Gryphon, Arwen (yes, after that Arwen) Morgan and Faylan.

My name while not at all uncommon, still seems to confuse people, especially Americans. Its simply "Geoffrey".

I recently encountered someone named Jedi Thompson. No, that is not a joke.

Unfortunately, his middle name is not 'Master.' Yes, that was supposed to be an admittedly very bad joke.

As far as the Internet is involved, I'm also the only one with my first-name last-name combination because they are both very rare and unusual. And I actually think it's not impossible that I'm the only one on the planet.

I have a fairly uncommon Italian surname and a Scandanavian first name. The combination would probably only meet in America where there are even less people with my last name. So I think it's fairly safe to say I'm the only one with my name.

We should start a club or something.

I'm pretty sure I remember talking to a Jedi on the phone when working for Sky. There was a Mr. A Gay. If he was gay it's a great introduction.
