Uniforms?

In some TNG episodes when Picard, Jack Crusher & thw crew of the Enterprise-C were shown they were wearing the movie era uniform minus the turtleneck shirt, what was the reason for this change?

Budget. This variation was introduced in "Yesterday's Enterprise," and the differences - no shirt or belt - were introduced in order to recycle the movie wardrobe while signifying an era between the TOS-based films and the 24th century.

Not enough undershirts available, and it is implied those TWOK-uniforms were used by Starfleet from sometime between the timeline of TMP-TWOK all the way to the timeline between Wesley Crusher's birth ("Family") and prior to Jack Crusher's death ("Violations"). :borg:

While it bugged me at the time, now I think they made the right choice to leave them off. Those thick ribbed collars would have made the uniforms look a little TOO 1980s.

Hahaha... I never even noticed that they weren't wearing the turtlenecks. What if Starfleet had a small variety of uniforms that could be worn, just like the current US armed forces?? Perhaps they could be worn with or without the turtlenecks???

I understood that the creators had to work with a budget but those uniforms never looked right without the turtlenecks. I think that the turtleneck could have been used. Just take a look at the current US military uniform. A lot of the current officers uniforms have largely been unchanged for the last fifty years.

Didn't Tapestry show the uniforms with some sort of undershirt? kind of like the DS9/VOY uniforms.
