Uniform Request

I was thinking of a story which is basically of a parallel universe in which rather than the USAF created out of just the USAAF, would be created out of the USAAF and US Naval Air Corps as well.

The idea would be for the uniforms to have characteristics of both the current Air Force and the US Navy (To reflect the fictitious Air-Force including both the Army and Naval Air Corps) and the fact that I've truthfully thought of aviation has in many respects having some parallels with a navy (In the early USAF eras, bombers are sometimes called ships, air is a fluid, etc) as well as the fact that the Royal Air-Forces Uniforms seem to be inspired by Naval uniforms (The stripes and certain ranks)

Here's what I'm thinking

Officer Uniform
- Basic Uniform is from the USAF
- Epaulettes Removed
- Buttons on coat basically the same as the USAF uniform
- Pockets the same as the USAF Uniform
- Medal Arrangement basically the same as USAF Uniform
- Stripes on sleeves (Not sure if light silver, a more grayish-silver like the color of the buttons on the USAF uniform or a silvery-gold)
- Rank insignia atop the stripes (for example an O-4 in addition to having the stripe-set associated with the rank would also have a golden oak-leaf above the stripe-set)
- White hat which gives a more nautical appearance, similar to the Navy's cap, but with the golden band a silver color similar to the buttons on the USAF Uniform
- I haven't really thought about exactly what kind of scrambled-egg/farts and darts pattern to use

Anybody willing to help me out? Also, I wouldn't mind hearing any ideas and suggestions.

You might want to look up the Uniforms of the US air Force under Air Force Chief of Staff Merrill McPeak and his redesign. It is very similar to what you are talking about... However it was retired very fast in 1994 because it proved very unpopular with the officers and senior enlisted at the time.

In fact here is an image of him wearing his uniform.

The 2" wide "flag" band has the "farts and darts" from the cover on it.

These are new officer uniforms for the Air Force. While I think they are a travesty, is this something a long the lines your looking for?

McPeak's just looks like a blue suit with stripes on the sleeves.
The new ones? Yuck. Those are awful.

That's not the current uniform. That was a change proposed a few years ago and accepted, but it's been indefinitely postponed.

Yes, I know. I ment to edit my post but was to lazy. When I first saw the picture of it in Air Force Times I was floored. So thank you for pointing that out.

That wasn't even the oddest variation of the uniform that was proposed:

looks cool to me though im reminded of Star wars empire uniforms for some reason or if our Militray was more strict like a military dictorship :) :techman:

I was thinking of using a basic shape of the older USAF uniforms in regard to the collar shape and such, the extra pockets (which look more army like), and having the medals configured up to four per row, but using a striping system more like General McPeak's uniform, and a white hat like the USN's but with the gold-band being replaced with a silver band, and a USAF logo on it.

Anyone know any good military uniform picture sites? I don't know much about real world uniforms and these are intriguing.

Anyone here who has talent drawing uniforms, could you please render some assistance. This one is not too complicated actually
