Unified Earth?

Are there any references to a unified Earth in Star Trek: The Original Series?

I have racked my brain and cannot think of any. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find an answer on Memory Alpha either.

What I'm looking for is an actual reference in The Original Series itself.

^ In “The Corbomite Maneuver”, Kirk identifies his ship as the United Earth Ship Enterprise. Would that count? ;)
It certainly should -- “The Corbomite Manuever” was the first production episode filmed (though it was number 10 in broadcast order, probably because of the extra postproduction time to do the opticals of the Fesarius).

In “Tomorrow Is Yesterday,” Kirk tells Capt. Christopher: “We're a combined service, Captain. Our authority is the United Earth Space Probe Agency.” I believe that agency is also briefly mentioned by its acronym in at least one other TOS episode, but I’m damned if I can remember which one.

Of course, that was before the terms “Starfleet” and “Starfleet Command” were established as standard. The UESPA was later incorporated into various chronologies in Trek fanon.

Kirk refers to UESPA phonetically in "Charlie X."

Subsequent TREK series also chime in on the "United Earth" theme.

In TNG's "Up the Long Ladder", Picard refers to an early attempt at "world government".

In ENT, characters referred to both Earth Starfleet and UESPA.

I've long been fond of the notion that UESPA is Earth's support infrastructure for participation in the Federation Starfleet and thus the Federation itself. UESPA sponsors/supports Federation starships (and, presumably, Earth ships as well) on behalf of Earth. (Just as the ill-fated Intrepid in the TOS era was manned by Vulcans; perhaps Intrepid was sponsored by Vulcan Space Central.) Think of it as their way of securing membership in "the Club".
