Game Uncharted Galaxy - Starship Command Adventure RPG [In Development]

Hey, everyone. I wanted to finally share a bit of information on a project I'm working on called Uncharted Galaxy. Being a huge fan of both Star Trek and video games, I -- like many of you -- have always felt there's been a severe shortage of quality Trek games. Uncharted Galaxy, while not related to the Trek IP, is my attempt to create the type of Trek game I've always wanted to play.

In Uncharted Galaxy, players will take command of a starship on its mission of exploration and discovery. Whether it's studying mysterious stellar phenomena, participating in diplomatic negotiations, diffusing a hostage situation aboard a derelict freighter, or leading humanitarian efforts on alien planets, the goal is to make a starship game about so much more than combat, combat, combat (though, yes, there will be combat!).

Players will be able to customize their character, senior officers, and other bridge crew members. They may, for example, choose to recreate the cast of their favorite science fiction TV series, if they're so inclined.

One of the things that was most important to me was that the player, as Captain, would not directly control things like maneuvering the ship and firing weapons. That's why you have a helmsman and tactical officer, after all! Instead, the player will issue commands to his or her crew which they will then carry out. You'll only directly control your character... at least for as long as they're alive. In the event of the death of a crewman, that character will be gone for good, including the Captain. If the Captain is killed, he or she will be replaced by their First Officer, whom the player will control from that point forward.

I've recently launched a website for posting updates on the game's progress. Please feel free to check it out at the link below, or browse the Uncharted Galaxy devlog thread on the Unity Forums where I'd been posting progress previously.

Since this is a group of people who I think would be particularly interested in this type of game, I'll also link new posts in this thread, along with occasional exclusive updates that may be of particular interest to the Trek community.

Thanks for reading! LLAP.

The stuff on the site in particular looks quite promising, and I wish you luck. (Possibly wrong thread, though; this should probably be over in Trek Gaming.) I will certainly keep an eye out for this, particularly if it becomes available on the Kindle Fire appstore.

I asked the mods where the best place would be, and they said Fan Productions. Makes sense, since it's not an official Trek game or anything.

Initial planned release is for iOS and Android. If the demand seems to be there, I'll look into PC and potentially consoles.

Needs more pretty.

But if it makes it to vita (and as its indie and unity based, you should really try for that as it parleys well into a ps4 release) I will buy a copy.

Ouch!

I'm a programmer, not an artist. I'm trying to go for simple, yet charming and appealing models. Nothing is final yet, but the focus will definitely be on gameplay over graphics. As a one-man team, that's the best I can do.

I'm a Vita owner myself, and struggle to find a reason to brush the dust off it. I'd be happy to add a reason for others to! I'll certainly keep it on my radar.

Vita needs a game in space that isn't just space invaders (I can think of three vita games that are nominally space games. 1 of those is to big and a waste of money. Bah.)

I can't do 3D and my schedule is tight, but if you ever want some 2d stuff hit me up. I would love to what you are doing, but I am an artist and writer not a programmer. In fact, if you have a project that need some of that, give me a yell. :)
