Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Anyone else having freezing problems? I get to the Chateau, come up on a box of grenades, and the game freezes. I've restarted several times, gone back a chapter and tried playing through again, and it freezes in the same spot. Any suggestions?

Are you sure it actually froze? Because if I remember correctly the game sort of "freezes" the character and shows you how to throw grenades with the L1/L2.

The hand-to-hand combat is just trying too hard to mimmick that from Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, but it's just not pulling it off as well.

What Rocksteady achieved with their Batman games has to be the holy grail of third person hand to hand combat games. That's more of a testament to how awesome they are than a comment on UC3 and Naughty Dog. I think the combat in UC3 fits it quite well. Nathan Drake is not Batman and shouldn't fight like Batman.... no matter how awesome those games were.

I finished UC3 today. I think I'm in love with the single player in this game. I've dipped in to the multiplayer and it's kind of engaging too. I don't know how much time I'll give it with Battlefield 3 on my shelf and MW3 on the way, but this is a great game. I see why it got so many 10's. The way this game drew me in and took me to another world is why I believe that video games and not movies will become the superlative form of storytelling within the next 20 years. Not to parrot Greg Miller of IGN, but experiences like Uncharted 3 is why I play video games. :techman:

The ending just kind of showed up. Aside from a little knife fight and some running, there wasn't really a big final boss or anything. Marlowe gets swallowed by quicksand, and that's it? They built up a big mystery surrounding her and never really explained anything. I was hoping for a bigger payoff dealing with the conversation she and Drake (not his real name?) had earlier in the game.

I also would have liked to see a reunion with Chloe and Cutter. She took him to the hospital after he broke his leg and were never heard from again.

IIRC, there was a lot of people upset about the ending to UC2 as well. This boss fight was a lot different. You make a lot of good points that I ultimately agree with.

My copy arrived today, and I played it for about an hour tonight.

One thing I didn't like with UC2 was how slow some of the earlier levels were. This game starts out just like that: sneaking around, climbing things is not fun for me. I want a gun.

I'm sure it'll pick up.

I picked it up for the first time last night. I like the emphasis on Drake's backstory and the intrigue angle is pretty cool this time around. But I agree with the posters who said it starts off a tad slow. Also, the controls seem more "realistic" but slightly less fun. Overall, I'd rank it below Uncharted 2, but I'm reserving final judgment until I finish the game.

Also wondering when Elena Fisher is going to pop up in the story.

After neglecting it last night, I play for about an hour and a half this afternoon. I'll agree with others that have said it's a little slow in the beginning, but I really like that we get to see Drake's backstory play out.

Finished it the other day. It was fun, but not great. The new characters I don't think were as good as the previous characters and even the recurring ones seemed a bit flat. The story was also a bit meh and predictable, though there were some good moments, special mention to what happens when you first get to the Iram of the Pillars.

Plus the sections where you could do nothing but walk in a line were nice break ups of the action I do feel they over stayed their welcomes.

I agree with others that this game wasn't as good as UC2.

I was disappointed they made no attempt to offer an explanation as to what exactly was contaminating the water other than it been a "Djin".

On that, I don't know what the fuss was about the bad guys getting some crazy stuff...they had stuff to make you crazy already. Also a bit confused as to how they knew about the stuff. I think I need to play it through again and keep a better eye on the story.

Honestly, I almost felt like the first half of the game and the second half were written by different people, so there are things that happen in the beginning that aren't given any follow through. The game was fun to play, but the story was definitely lacking.

I have exactly the same problem and driving me nuts!! Cannot get past the grenades as the set freeze piece that shows you 'With L1 held tap L2...." will not disappear and I cant continue :(

If you have any way to fix this I would be hugely grateful!!

Thank you

So, is anyone else having issues with loading the game? It wont go past the very first "spinning ring" just after the 3D warning. :(

My problem was solved by actually following the instructions. I was holding L1 and tapping R1 (like firing a weapon), which of course does not work. Duh! Once I realized my mistake it worked fine. Try throwing the grenade, you have no choice, and you should be able to move on.

Yeah, the whole reason the game freezes at those points is the teach you how to do something. It does it in the beginning of the game when using the hand-to-hand combat as well. The game isn't frozen. It's just waiting for you to push the button it's telling you to push!

Just finished the game. Not bad, but definitely not as good as 1 & 2. Bring on #4!
