Uncharted 2 is crazy brilliant amazing [insert gush]

Dear god what a bloody brilliant game. This week I've had meetings at ungodly early hours for work ... and yet I still find myself awake well past 2am playing the single player campaign. I'm on Chapter 18 so far.

It's probably the best single player campaign I've ever played. I'm not joking. And this is from a guy who, quite frankly, found Uncharted: Drakes Fortune to be a bit frustrating and not all that enjoyable. Uncharted 2 is something totally different.

It's also by FAR the best looking game I've ever played.

So... anybody here playing it?

The past couple of days, from the time I wake up, go to work and get home I am Sean Foster. But from the time I get home around 7pm until 2am I am Nathan Drake!

I'm on Chapter 15 or 16 (I just "caught up" to the beginning of the game) and am just totally loving it. The story has me so engrossed and the action sequences blow my away, I love how desperate the gun battles get in the Uncharted franchise because you only have 3-4 clips of ammo per gun.

I'm on the exact same spot. I loved the train level and helicopter battle. So far, this game has been pretty much perfect. The only part I had to reboot the game was in the city, some douchebag was coming at me with a shield and I rolled to dodge a grenade and I got stuck in the wall.

I definitely plan on checking this game out, but should I get the first one first? The demo was OK, but it didn't inspire me to buy it.

First one's definitely worth a look, it's available on the cheap too since it's on Greatest Hits. Also, it's still one of the best looking console games available.

I'm pretty intrigued by the game myself ... almost makes me wish I owned a PS3. I also heard Claudia Black did voiceover work for the game, which greatly improves it IMHO.

I'm not actually gonna read any of the posts in this thread because I really don't wanna be spoiled. I haven't received my copy yet, maybe I'll get it today.

I've been looking forward to this game for almost two years two, so I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Yeah I recently bought a PS3 and wasn't that impressed with the demo of Uncharted 1. The graphics were great and the exploration was fine but the gun battles weren't that impressive.

^I actually didn't like the gunplay in Uncharted 1 at all.

In Uncharted 2 the system is totally overhauled - the mechanics are the same, but the controls are massively tightened up and more slick - making the whole stop-n-pop mechanic better than even Gears of War, IMO. Plus the animations are even more gorgeous in Uncharted 2 (than in 1), making the whole affair that much more fluid.

I personally love the gunplay in both Uncharted games - though it's even better in the 2nd game. I love how desperate and edge of your seat they feel. They remind me of the epic battles I used to enjoy getting into in the original Half-Life with the marines in that game, where you could try different tactics and angles of approach on each attempt you made. It always feels quite varied to me.

I got the game today... left work at 11:30am and have been playing it pretty much non stop ever since. So far, it is absolutely glorious. :D

And while I don't usually care much for shooters of any kind, I absolutely love it in Uncharted (and U2) for some reason.

So far there have been a couple of funny lines in U2 that totally cracked me up.

The first one being about Sully always following the hose and the second one where Drake mentions the zombies from the first game.

I picked it up yesterday and I'm looking forward to playing it... but right now, rocking out on Brutal Legend is taking priority :p

I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced, got it on release day....and haven't played it yet. I've been busy with Demon's Souls.

I haven't had the time to even get to the store, but I'm REALLY looking forward to picking it up this weekend! I loved the first game.

I'm in the UK and I got it one day early yesterday in the post! I love it, but I'm in my final year of University and games like this have to come out? :(

Takes up all my time haha. Brilliant game so far, I'm not very far into the single player....around chapter 4 in the forest.

The multiplayer online has me hooked though, so much fun! Been doing some online co-op with my friends and some of the objectives type games, brilliant! Level 21 already haha, but I did have the beta so I have a slight advantage!

Anyone else agree that the new maps from the beta are great? I like the train map in the blizzard, very good - its the one from the first level basically!

Is this game better than Far Cry 2? I couldnt stand that game and got rid of it. I want to pick up UC2, but am afraid it will be like FC 2.

Uwe Boll made a Far Cry movie. He will never get anywhere near an Uncharted movie. That should tell you everything you need to know. :p

Seriously though, I haven't gotten my copy yet. If it means anything to you, Adam Sessler from X-Play called it the greatest game of that genre he's ever played.
