1. Was Marcus in charge of Section 31? If not, how did he create that secret base with the giant ship?

2. Does anyone know about Section 31? Now that Kirk knows....isn't that a huge f'n deal?

3. How does Khan's blood cure people? Why not use that from now on?

4. Why doesn't Khan look like Khan? And why is he British? And why is Carol Marcus British?

1. Was Marcus in charge of Section 31? If not, how did he create that secret base with the giant ship?

We don't know if he was in charge, but it seemed clear that he was part of it.

2. Does anyone know about Section 31? Now that Kirk knows....isn't that a huge f'n deal?

We don't know who else knows about it, or even if Kirk ever told anyone.

3. How does Khan's blood cure people?

It's apparently some kind of super-blood. They did the very same thing with Clark Kent's blood on the show Smallville.

Why not use that from now on?

No idea.

4. Why doesn't Khan look like Khan? And why is he British?

Different actor. ;) Seriously though, I don't know.

And why is Carol Marcus British?

See above.

^ Some good explanations in that thread. Short answers... Khan had plastic surgery and Marcus was raised in the UK this time around. You can come up with all that just by thinking about it a little.

Apparently Khan has Section 31 to thank for the blood thing, as there's no evidence that Khan Prime ever knew his blood could do that. So Section 31 must have found out on their own.

yeah i figured khan just had his face altered with plastic surgery, so he could go undercover, and no one would recognize him from history books.

^ Maybe they didn't MAKE it that way, but they must have been the ones to find out that it was. Otherwise, Khan Prime would have known about it. (And might have used it to bring some of his people back after the Ceti Eels killed them.) He didn't know, so logically S31 must have.

I'm thinking it unlikely Khan didn't know about his blood, especially if you took into account Cox's Eugenics wars books (yes yes, not canon). That so many of his people died on Tau Ceti makes me wonder if something happened to Khan in this time line that supered his blood. Khan was pretty much in love with himself and would have known all his strengths.

Oh and as to question 4, as someone already said in another thread if Marcus is going to take Khan and use him incognito he is going to have his appearance changed. His bone structure is not dissimilar though.

Yeah, that super blood hand wave plot device really cheapened the whole Kirk death scene and sacrifice. Leave him dead for a movie. That builds anticipation.

NOoooooo not Kirk dead!! He's already dead in Prime timeline!

It would just be so mean if they left him dead especially because of my deep fear that JJ is gonna wander off to the Outer Rim and we won't see him in Trekverse again. Kirk dead in both timelines would be cruel.

1. Was Marcus in charge of Section 31? If not, how did he create that secret base with the giant ship?

He was clearly important in it, and he did seem to be the commander of Starfleet in this time and timeline.

2. Does anyone know about Section 31? Now that Kirk knows....isn't that a huge f'n deal?

It seems likely that it will be. Now that Marcus's conspiracy has come out, it's bound to have consequences. Section 31 may be exposed and disbanded far sooner in the Abramsverse than in the Primeverse, just as many things are happening sooner.

3. How does Khan's blood cure people? Why not use that from now on?

McCoy said that Khan had regenerative abilities like he'd never seen before -- no doubt one of his augmented abilities. Perhaps this will be studied and used in the future, but it might be against the law since it's the product of genetic engineering.

4. Why doesn't Khan look like Khan?

Well, aside from the obvious answer that Ricardo Montalban is dead... he was a world-famous war criminal living under an assumed name. It stands to reason he would've gotten cosmetic surgery too.

And why is he British?

Why did the former Khan have a Mexican accent? If anything, a British accent makes more sense for someone who's supposed to be a Sikh, since people in India would probably learn English from people with British accents.

And why is Carol Marcus British?

The timelines diverged 26 years ago. A lot could've changed. Her family could've moved to England while she was a child. Heck, I once knew a woman who came from Baltimore but had been raised by an English nanny and had a beautiful English accent as a result.

I really thought he was gonna stay dead and was just like... woah... for awhile. Then the reset button is pushed... le sigh.

Pity too because that would've tied back beautifully into Pike's speech to Kirk about not taking responsibility and facing the consequences of his actions.

Besides, they you can do something silly like have Kirk ejected into a space coffin, picked up by the Borg, and becoming Locutus of Borg in the NuTrek universe! ;)

Perhaps this isn't an unanswered question, more of a potential plot thread for the next film, but how are the Klingons going to react to the events of this film?

Then again, the more I think about it, perhaps nothing will happen. Klingon commanders may not even know that the ruckus in the Ketha Province was caused by Starfleet officers, considering that it appears every Klingon was killed. But it would be interesting to see if they follow up on it at all in the next film. Considering that the film ends a year later and there's no war...perhaps it wasn't such a big deal, lol.

EDIT: And considering the events of the Original films, where you had the Federation and the Klingon Empire on the verge of war, but it never happened....maybe that same Cold War situation is going to become the norm here.
