Una McCormack on her DS9-related novels

I enjoyed her "Neverending Sacrifice" immensely, especially her portrayal of Rugal. I hope that the German version gets a proper cover. I found the original cover rather dull.

That is a very good article. I particularly like her first line,

"I often think of writing as a process of entering into a contract with your readers: when you persuade someone to read your work, you’re making promises to them that your work will deliver in certain ways."

Not only like it but sincerely appreciate it as well.

Sorry, what do you mean by a "proper cover," I myself rather liked the cover and subjectively, didn't find it dull at all and the cover itself met what it needed to do.

Sorry, I didn´t explain it well enough. The dull colors of Neverending Sacrifice correspond with what I have in mind when I think of Cardassia. I just prefer covers with characters on it, no matter the color. They may as well keep the cover, as the content is great. And there is no release date yet for it. I guess they will keep the original cover, otherwise they would have presented one. I don´t judge a book by the cover anyway. It is a matter of taste in the end.

McCormack's comparison of franchise fiction to historical fiction is fascinating and insightful.

Interesting insight into Una's writing the ds9 novels as historical fiction in the Star Trek universe makes for fascinating reading. Thanks for posting this article.:techman:
