ummmmm..STOP IT already...

What movie genre do you think they need to give a rest to? Fantasy movies (LOTR/POTTER/NARNIA)..HERO movies (BATMAN-IRONMAN-HULK) scifi space movies (TREK--STAR WARS) or fantastic action flicks based on toys (TRANSFORMERS..GI JOE)

Or..are you okay with whats going on???

Rob

If you do not want to see these films, dont see them. They will stop when people stop buying tickets, but why do you need to wish to deprive fans of genre movies?

I don't like Transformers and and GI Joe but I am not complaining about them being released; maybe they will entertain me on HBO some evening.

Have the same feeling.:) Can you tell us why you think these genre movies need to stop ''Scorpio''?

Oh..Im not complaining...I'm just asking of there is a genre that is being done to death. You're right, as long as people to them, they will keep making them. But eventually, usually, these waves come and go. But give POTTER credit. It, more so that LOTR, has kept the fantasy genre alve so as to get movies like Golden Compass (which I did like) made when they otherwise may have not been..

Good question..for a while, it seems to me, slasher films went away...and then made a big come back. Disaster films of the 70s really were gone until, I think, DIE HARD combined Disaster films with action suspense movies....hard to put my finger on...but some genres come and go. Most people thought, after the dreadful Xanadu, that musicals should have been given a rest..and they were..and didn't really come back until Moulan Rouge--Chicago brought them back...

Please, Hollywood, no more:

Zombies, pirates, pubescent magicians, pirate zombies, "[genre] Movie" parodies, zombie pirates, anything based on a recurring character from SNL and/or starring Andy Samberg, remakes of movies that don't need to be remade in the first place (i.e. Day the Earth Stood Still).

Okay, that makes sense. One thing that does bug me is that many comic book characters are caught up in movie rights when I would much rather see them in a good television series. Comics are ultimately character driven and we buy them, in part, to see good character development.

I would love to see a well done X-men series that takes time to really explore the issues of racism, for example, or a GL Corps series could be a great Space Opera replacement for BSG/Star Trek on television. I guess I would really love to see more television in the style of Smallville but more mature in style.

I'm getting a little bored with stoic epic fantasy movies. Prince Caspian was just one too many for me (I just rewatched it last night for the time since it was released a year ago). I can't get enough sci-fi and comic book movies, though!

Cop shows.
"We're a totally different cop show! Our cop is a psychic!"
"We're a totally different cop show! Our cop pretends to be a psychic!"
"We're a totally different cop show! Our cop is blind!"
"We're a totally different cop show! Our cops are forensic specialists!"
"We're a totally different cop show! Our cops are psychologists!"
"We're a totally different cop show! Our cops are statisticians!"
Sod off already! :klingon:

:techman: I agree with that %100!

completely agree.

except for the wolvercrap. that needs to stop already.

Ya, I think the media is just OVERSATURATED with wolverine. With the movies & cartoon show HELL it's called Wolverine & the x-men. The X-men don't even get top billing anymore!

Guess you won't be seeing "Laser Cats: The Curse of Long John Zombie" starring Andy Samberg.

No TV so, that ends that problem.

And everyone knows that there are only a few generic ideas that are reworked time after time, so the same story, same song, leave us with no real choices to start with, let alone end.

That's why I just stick with Tolkien's LOTR, The Hobbit, Middle Earth stuff, The Silmarillion (The Bible of Middle Earth.) Have an iPod 5.5 and a netbook filled with the stuff.

^^ ... And don't forget:

"We're a totally different cop show! Well... okay. We're not. We're an ordinary cop show. But hey, that's something different these days, innit?"

No. No, it's not. Agree with the above, more comics-inspired shows!

Movies based toys. I thought the GI Joe trailer had to be about the worst one I have ever seen. No one in the audience had any idea what the movie was until the title flashed at the end. It just looks like a generic action film.

I'm just a little weary of what I call "fart with a heart" Apatow movies. It's a bad mix of "gross-out and truly meaningful" crap.

They're almost as bad as the Scary Movie, Disaster Movie junk.
