Ummm.... didn't Quark forget something?

Just watched Body Parts. The episode where Quark thinks he's going to die from a disease and then finds out he was misdiagnosed and tries to get Garak to kill him so he doesn't have to break a contract with Brunt.

Well... after discussing with Garak all the options for being killed, they decide on going with the ol' sneak attack which could come at any time. Eventually, Quark decides to break Brunt's contract, but... unless I missed it... he never, onscreen at least, called off Garak's services.

I kind of chuckled after watching the episode imagining the montage at the end of What You Leave Behind and seeing Garak snapping Quark's neck on the Promenade

I imagine something more like a conference on the station ten years down the road between the Bajoran and Cardassian governments. Quark shows up dead, apparently of natural causes, but he looks rather... surprised.

The real question is:

WHY DIDN'T HE SUE THE DOCTOR FOR MALPRACTICE???

Wouldn't that have effectively solved all fo his financial problems?

... or could it be that because of his standing in the FCA that he couldn't??? hmmm...

Remember, he was excited that he'd be able to sue after Dr. Bashir gave him the news. The problem was that Brunt wanted Quark's desecrated remains... he didn't care about the latinum (which Quark offered back plus interest)

It might be just me, and it's been a while since I've seen this episode, but, I thought Garak was getting a kick out of toying with Quark as to the method of execution, but wasn't relishing the idea of carrying out the deed. He would have gladly returned payment.

Well, you'll get no argument from me on those facts but remember, at the end of the episode (and thusly was the reason why Quark was willing to have Garak kill him to begin with anyway) because Quark reneged on the contract he lost his standing and had all of his assets seized by the FCA. My point is that even after losing everything by the end of the ep., couldn't he have just sued the doctor who misdiagnosed him.

Anyway, I don't think that it would have happened because Quark probably lost his right to sue along with everything else.
