Ultimately Human: July 2010

Frontier

Mid-Month, time to see the faces behind the masks and makeup!

Galleries are back up, if a bit unfinished. Still, I'll post the file index in case they go back down for some unforeseen reason.

Try this first: http://www.trekcore.com/specials/thumbnails.php?album=79

If that doesn't work, then here's the index: http://www.trekcore.com/specials/albums/human/album22/

I've also done the first instance of side-by-side photos of the (lesser known) actor with their character. I'll only do such for actors that I really think people will have a tough time saying "who the hell did they play?" -- heavily made-up people or briefly seen characters or, as in this case, kids who've grown up.

Also, be quite glad I'm paranoid, folks. I keep all my files -- including rare photos and ultimately human -- on an external drive for safe keeping. Good thing, as I had to reinstall my OS last night!

My Favorites:
1st Row, Center: The late great Brock Peters.

3rd Row, Right: Wowsers -- the little Borg girl Mezoti all grown up!

4th Row, Right: Another late great, Paul Winfield, TWOK's Captain Terrell and TNG's Darmok.

5th Row, Right: Another hot picture of Terry Farrell. Love the wet hair look.

Which Ones Are Your Favorites?

Nice picture of Natalie Nogulich. I didn't like her character on TNG, but she was a guest at a con I was at a few years back and she was incredibly interesting about her career as a tv actress.

Cool pictures! Looks like something has been cut off the Terry Farrell photo, though. :(

A guy with the name Armin Shimmerman playing a Ferengi .. beautiful! :)
Who's Armin Shimmerman? :p

Seriously, though, why is this noteworthy to you?

He plays Quark on DS9

Seriously, though, why is this noteworthy to you?

Being an Aussie ..and so not yet hounded into politically correct submission by minority groups with big chips on their shoulders I can see a correlation between the origins of his name and Ferengis.

To avoid stepping on any sensitive toes .. I'm afraid I'll have to let you work it out yourself.

;)

Since I am of German Jewish descent, I shall spell it out for you. Armin Shimmerman is a very Jewish name. Ferengis were portrayed as [very] stereotypical Jews-- i.e. they cared more about money than anything. It is a bad stereotype, but was executed with much humor. DS9's "Little Green Men" is one of the few episodes I enjoyed. IMO, the Ferengi characters make DS9 bearable.:techman:

Oh wow. I never thought of that. And now that you said it... I think that's bullshit.
