UK scifi movies

What would you consider the five best scifi movies made by England...and I don't mean movies, like Star Wars or Superman, that were filmed there..I mean UK produced scifi movies, with UK writers. Could have American actors in them, but have to be, you know, made by UK. James Bond, for example ,not scifi, but is, primarily, made by UK writers-directors--producers.

I don't know how to tell exactly which movies would count. Does "Children of Men" count? Takes place in the UK, and there's a largely British cast, but the director is Mexican, and I don't know what the details of the production are.

I'd also have to include Terry Gilliam's "Time Bandits", "Brazil", and "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen", though defining exactly what genre they belong to isn't easy. The only one that's unambiguously sci-fi is "Time Bandits".

I'd also throw in "28 Days Later", if only because I'm having trouble thinking of other unambiguously British sci-fi movies. I don't know. Give me a list of movies that you consider "British", and I'll tell you which ones I think are the best. ;)

Quatermass And The Pit

Um...

Trying to think of another really good all-UK one.... Or at least, I'm unsure what qualifies as an all-UK movie.

I mean, I can think of a number of fantasy and horror movies that would qualify, but SF is a different matter!

'Sunshine'. It's about the only 'proper' sci-fi film made over here in a while.
'2001: A Space Odyssey' is technically one of ours as it was financed by MGM-British Studios. Staying with Stanley for a sec, I suppose 'A Clockwork Orange' is considered Science Fiction. 'Fahrenheit 451' probably deserves a mention too, though it's not what I'd call essencial viewing.
The rest is made up of Hammer Horror type films like 'When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth', 'Day of the Triffids', the 'Quatermass' films and I suppose the old Doctor Who movies too.
But like I said, until 'Sunshine' not many sci-fi theatrical films have been done over here in ages, mostly due to the expense involved and lack of funds availible.

How about "A Clockwork Orange".
I would also include "Brazil".
Maybe 1984 too

Things To Come
The two Doctor Who movies with Peter Cushing
Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun
The Day The Earth Caught Fire (I love this film)
Zardoz
Biggles Adventures In Time
Slipstream (starring Mark Hammill)

Biggles and Quartermass are a couple of my favorites. There was another one about a little girl and little boy. They were both staying in the same country manor-but 100 years or so apart. They kept bumping into each other in the garden as they grew older until the boy(in our time) reached a point in his life(adulthood) where he no longer believed in time travel-anyone know the title?

Five Million Years To Earth- that's the US title of Quatermass And The Pit
