UK BBSers: From Russia with SNOW....

Well I'm going to York, and I drive down to the Park & Ride and go into town on the bus, easier that way. So I'll put my faith in the bus driver!

^ That's even more risky than driving yourself! :D

^ Holdy, do you have winter tyres on your S4?

No.

Snow is so rare here that it's not worth the expense. If I did have winter tyres, I'd be happy driving in this weather, I think the car could fairly easily handle the few inches we have here. I have Continental SportContact2s or 3s on at the moment, which aren't ideal for snow really...

^ Gotcha. Yeah, then it's definitely a good idea to keep the car safe.

And yeah, your S4 could handle a couple of inches of snow easily. Hell, I use my VW Eos as a daily-driver all winter long even when we get a ton of snow (like we did this week) and it doesn't have the benefit of AWD like your S4.

Speaking of AWD... I gotta say our new Q5 totally rocks in the snow. Ground clearance + Quattro = total awesomeness. ;)

A tip for snowman newbies: It'll last much longer if you use a garden hose to put some water inside it. So long as you don't turn the pressure up too much, it'll just wetten the snow so that it freezes harder rather than washing it away.

Got to town and back perfectly fine. Once I got a few miles out of my village there was barely any snow at all anywhere.

While on the bus I was flicking through the Metro newspapers, and one of the stories was "Weather misery to continue", about how more snow was forecast.
Why does it have to be "misery", I love a bit of snow! It's great. I fucking hate that lazy style of journalism where every thing on Earth is bad and out to get you and screw you over

I am praying for a lack of snow or ice tomorrow. I need to be in London for the weekend.

The roads are covered in snow and my county is running out of grit/salt.

At one time we were a salt mining nation. We've still got lots of the stuff too, but we don't mine it much anymore. It's ridiculous really. It's like sitting on top of a load of abandoned coal mines and complaining that we've got no fossil fuels... oh wait.
No, its not that. Its just how a nation can grind to a halt by what we'd consider a light dusting where I'm from. It speaks volumes to how specialized and adapted we are from region to region.
