Did Real Madrid just shit out money for breakfast ?

Great Real your going to score 80 goals and concede 81 goals

Actually I don't think that is much different from their purported philosophy of "you score 3 so we'll score 4".

Excellent. I couldn't care less what Madrid get up to - they still won't win the Champions League - but by weakening United and preventing Chelsea signing Villa, they are doing Liverpool a favour. As long as they keep their hands off Alonso.

Liverpool are not going to get cose to PL since those dorky americans pricks have ZERO money. Not getting Barry was a major blow and you need to buy a good striker for cover plus a winger...

Rafa is dodgy to say the least with £££ and he has no £££ to spend anyway.

This ...
I don't have to see the greasy, preening, cheating prick on a weekly basis any more, and the Mancs will struggle to replace him. Happy days.

... could not have been said any better.

If they get rid of Tevez now, I'd be questioning Sir Alex's sanity.

I would think so. But - and who can trust what rumors one reads in the papers - Tevez is "disillusioned" and wants his out. There is also the entire messy business that he's not actually owned by United and not theirs to keep. But, as you said, Sir Alex may be better served to pay the £32 million (or whatever it was) ransom.

Good on Real Madrid for splashing the cash and putting together what should be a fantastic team to watch. It'd be pretty funny if it backfires, but then again, two recent world players of the year can't exactly hurt you. I hear they're also going after Villa, but I hope he goes to Chelsea as it looks like ManU might be vulnerable now. ManU's loss is surely Liverpool's and Chelsea's gain here.

We've got £20 million plus sales, and we weren't in for Barry anyway. Unlike United, we don't need to replace two match winners. We don't have a new untested manager like Chelsea, and Arsenal probably have to spend more than us to even come up to our level (though the resident Gooners may well disagree). We won't be able to compete for Villa, Ribery or Benzema, but if we can get the right players, there's no reason we can't do at least as well in the coming season. We've already got as good a first XI as any other team in the league, but depth is a concern which needs to be rectified.

You just need to find someon better to come off the bench than Lucas  if your XI stays fit then you could win the PL but in football there are always injuries so depending on who Chelsea buy you could slip back down to 3rd again. Arsenal will remain 4th if there lucky simply because Wenger won't buy much and what he will buy will probably blow.

I don't understand why he won't go for Upson over that Ajax kid who may not be big enough for PL according to Tony Adams

Several sources are reporting that Pompey have recieved a sizable bid of around £15 million for Glen Johnson and are seriously condering it but they won't say who from ?

* Man Utd - Don't need nor want him

* Arsenal - Same as Utd

* Chelsea - Rumors are its them but they do have Boswinga though wouldn't surprise me to learn Carlo doesn't like him though even then Glen Johnson didn't like his treatment at Chelsea last time

* Liverpool - Can't afford him

So that leaves Villa and Man City with the only other clubs who could fund such a move but I doubt MON wants him so my guess is MAN CITY who looks like they want rid of Micah Richards. IMO Richards is good when played at right back but Man City loss would be a good gain for someone else.

We've got at least £20 million to spend, and Portsmouth still owe us £7 million for Crouch. If Citeh come in and fuck it all up, we may miss out, but we can certainly afford the reported £15 million. Also, the highest bidder doesn't always get their man if the player knows where he wants to go. We got Kewell for considerably less than United were bidding for example.

Sky Sports News are saying it's Chelsea, Liverpool and City.

Bayern have been linked too, as well as to Bosingwa, so they seem to be in the market for an attacking right back.

Starved for football (yes, already) I've been watching the Confederation's Cup. Not pretty. South Africa played a poor Iraq side to a scoreless draw in a turgid, lifeless affair. This team has a ways to go if it doesn't expect to bounced out of the WC straight away even against the light weight world competition. It's always better for the Cup to have the host nation hang in there for at least a little while.

Spain against New Zealand wasn't even funny. Not even to Spain. Spain looked good, but who wouldn't? The only thing one can take away from a game like that is the Oceania region is as much of a joke as you knew it was. Makes me want to claim New Zealand citizenship so I can play the odd game with their national side.

I watched a little bit of the second game there. Hilariously bad and one of those one sided games that isn't at all enjoyable past the first twenty minutes.

I'll watch some of the later games I expect.

Get used to it. It could be the soundtrack of the 2010 Finals. It's, apparently, part of South African football culture. FIFA wanted to ban them, then decided not to. So there you have it.

If you list the clubs the starting XI of the two team you get

Melbourne, Wellington, Auckland, Red Bull, Kilmarnock, Celtic FC, and San Jose Earth Quakes

vs

Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia, Arsenal, Villareal.

:)
