U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness - POTENTIAL SPOILERS

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

That link in the OP looks like an artist's painting of the ship and not actual CGI. Is it cropped from a movie poster?

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

Its from the Star Trek app. It looks to me that it may be a lower poly version of the actual CG model. I'd find it hard to believe that the fill resolution ILM CG model.

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

I think THIS is the ship that we see crashing into the bay and knocking buildings down in San Francisco.

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

Poor Alcatraz. It was expecting a better looking ship to take it out...

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

it does just look like a star trek online ship. not very nice really. oh well.

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

As a Trekkie, I must over-analyze; it's in my blood. The front of the saucer looks exactly like the saucer we see completely smashing the building, as if seen from the ground below. I'm willing to bet this the grand finale of the movie, too.

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

Please do not tell me those are escape hatches on the underside of the saucer.. if they are they must be as big as like 4 shuttles or summat??

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

I'm undecided. I do agree it looks a bit too textured and advanced looking in this image, but I'm keeping an open mind.

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

What purpose does the saucer cut-out serve...!?!?

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

I have a theory why the ship is named Vengeance and that is because this ship was built to fight against the Klingons and beat them at their own game. She looks like a powerful ship and mighter the the Enterprise. My other thought is the name belongs to the Star Wars ships that the Imperials own, such as one of their Star Destoyers. This is only theory's and guess work.

Re: U.S.S. Vengeance from Into Darkness

Here's a theory I find somewhat likely. The Vengeance is probably a prototype, and I imagine Cumberbatch is snatching her. Hell, he might even be the one that names her Vengeance, given that he seems to be after a slice of such.

Agree. :vulcan:

Me too... But this is just my interpretation of the screne from the previews that have been shown for months now.

They probably are.

The weird thing is, the Vengeance is HUGE in comparison to the Enterprise, but it's real hard to get a sense of scale from the shot of it crashing into the bay. It's throwing me a bit, because it looks smaller -- assuming it is the same ship. If I had to bet, I'd say I'm 85% sure.

Of course, there is always the idea that the "Vengeance" crashing into the bay is the prerefit version of the one going against the Enterprise and we are witnessing a sort of flashback/prequel seen.

i bet what happens is nothing we can guess.

this is the only film i've deliberately avoided spoilers for, which is a fucking hard job on here.
