U.S.S. TITAN -- THE WINNER!

What shape is the sensor pod supposed to be? I'm imagining that it's triangular, but I can't tell based on the images we see it in, and it's not included in the dorsal view

Yes it is. If you look closely, you'll see that it's a roughly rectangular shape, set on two swept-back supports on either side. The bow end of it is narrower, though.
Gah, you're right! I totally didn't notice the struts in the top-down view, so I couldn't tell that was the pod. Wow, I feel like a dunce, now. :o

The pod looks good.

I pretty much assumed that since the ship was supposed to be Starfleet's newest vessel that the design would be more and more streamlined.

Why? What has streamlining got to do with design advancement? This is a spaceship, not an aircraft; there's no reason for it to be streamlined. Unless aerodynamics are involved, streamlining is purely an aesthetic choice.

While true, Trek ships have generally been growing more and more streamlined, in all liklihood to visually communicate advancement. Consider, for example, the 29th century ship Relativity as seen on Voyager.

On second thought, let's not consider the Relativity. It is a silly ship.

Plus it's ugly. If that's what Starfleet vessels will eventually look like then I hope Starfleet doesn't last that long. :p

The more I see this ship the more I like it.

I feel the same way, and I liked it right-off. :)

It's quickly becoming one of my favorite latter-era designs.

I shared it with other members of the Trek organization that I'm part of, and a lot of folks there are suitably impressed, as well. :)

Best,
Alex

I like the ship, but I've noticed a little problem:

There are standard docking ports on the sides of the secondary hull, but how are they supposed to be accessed with those nacelles in the way? The ship looks like it needs some specialised equipment to dock anywhere.

I wonder what the chances of being able to run around this glorious ship in Star Trek Online will be. I personally can't wait until I see this design in motion.

You could probably just maneuver the shuttle in from the front and turn it the right way as you prepare to dock. Check the fore view; there should be enough room to do that.

The huge nacelles without a larger primary hull gives it something of an unbalanced look, particuliarly from the side.

The Akria-esque catamarans seem to be a tad... unnecessary, other than to echo the Akira of course, simply because they don't seem to serve much of a purpose as they do on the Akira herself of the NX. They hold up the pod, but regular pylons could have done the trick, and truth be told a pod on the saucer section on that just doesn't quite look right to me, not as at home like the triangular pod on the Nebula or the pod on the Miranda. The shuttle "runway" doesn't make much engineering sense to me either, as these aren't F-14's screaming in for a landing, and shuttles don't even have wheels, so it's a little pointless unless they want to set down outside the shuttlebay, but even then something more like the Intrepid's much shorter deck would be better suited unless you want a whole squadron out there or something. Either way it's valuable space you could have had for the shuttlebay itself and for shuttle storage, as well as crew space that you no longer have.

I must agree with Captain X on the above. Nevertheless, I still enjoy this design very much. Great work regardless of the little things I or others may dislike about the Titan.

The Docking port on the side of the saucer is for Star Base Docking. The port on the side on the primary hull is for small shuttles or worker bee docking, while making repairs.

I have to admit, my first reaction was not exactly positive. However, I'm liking the ship more and more every time I see it. Are we going to see the Type 11 shuttles and the captain's skiff as well?

Oh and congrats, Sean!

Blasphemy!!!!!!!! :D ;)

We're knights of the Starfleet Table
We dance whene'er we're able
We do routines and subspace scenes
With nacelles im-pec-cable
We dine well on Relativity
We eat hot dogs to infinity

We're knights of the Starfleet Table
Our warp drive is for-mi-dable
But many times we're given rhymes
That are unassimilatable
We're Klingon opera mad on Relativity
We sing praises to Sean Hannity

Time travellers, tough and able
Quite in-de-fa-ti-gable
Between our quests our Starfleet vests
Become quite unreachable
It's a busy life on Relativity
..we only get paid in Annuity

:D

Is anyone else having trouble seeing the Aft View image? It's not loading for me anymore, though all the other ones still are. Oddness.

I'm still trying to get used to the nacelles aligning perfectly with the bottom of the ship. That's the only thing that still kinda bugs me about the design; not in a bad way, I mean, it's just...different, yaknow?

My initial impression:

Titan (Luna Class) : Sovereign Class ::
Nebula Class : Galaxy Class ::
Miranda Class : Constitution Class

That being said I like the design very much.

I have noticed an error in the design. On the underside view the bottom of the stardrive is flat with escape-pods running its length but on the side view this area is curved. Also looking at the rear veiw these escape pods aren't in a cut out area.

While your tweaking the ship, I've noticed another couple of mistakes.

The ariel with a racoon tail is missing off the back and the bumper sticker saying 'Will Lvs Deanna' is also absent.

And a license plate that says "IMZDI 4VR"?
