U.S.S. Saratoga-A ? A Sovereign or Galaxy Class vessel ?

DumbDumb2007

Commander
After Sisko's U.S.S. Saratoga was destroyed what type class starship would be it's succesor ? A Galaxy Class or a Sovereign Class Starship ?

I don't know if the novels have ever said anything on the subject...but in my view it could be anything. It could be an Akira, Steamrunner, Norway, Saber, Defiant, Intrepid, Galaxy, Sovereign, Nova, it could even be a Excelsior, Ambassador or another Miranda.

Plus who knows if it would keep its registry or if Starfleet would just give it a new one, so even it been the Saratoga-A or plain old Saratoga is anyone's guess.

I know it's not cannon but wasn't there a book a long time ago where they made a new Miranda class ship and called it Saratoga and Sisko reunited with some of his old ship mates.

Here's another question. Was the Saratoga from ST: TVH, the same as Sisko's Saratoga?

Nope, different registry and configuration. We don't even know if the original ST4 Saratoga survived her encounter with the Whale Probe, or perhaps was destroyed with all hands.

Was a new Saratoga mentioned in DS9 after "Emissary"? I doubt the vessel would be a successor to Sisko's ship in any practical sense. Rather, she'd simply be another random starship that happens to carry the same name. It's not as if Sisko's Defiant is in any way related to the Constitution class ship of the same name, either.

In the novels the new USS Saratoga was a Miranda Class ship

In late Deep Space Nine the USS Saratoga was Excelsior Class (Conjecture because the only ship seen in the episode was Excelsior Class)

Actually, it's the replacement Farragut that is conjectured to be of Excelsior class because no other candidate is seen in the episode "Crysalis".

The replacement Saratoga is only mentioned in offscreen context, and in "You Are Cordially Invited", but that episode does not show any candidate ship docked to the station. Nor are there any Excelsiors hovering nearby in the filler shots.

I think, (solely for fic writing's sake,) it should be the bcfiles.com version of the Cheyenne-Class upgrade from Admiral Teagarden's "Continuing Voyages" simm site labelled the Pytheas-Class U.S.S. Icarus. That one so rocks.

I'd love to find more images of it. Does anyone know what its' listed as, by its creator?
