U.S.S. Challenger - 27th Century Concept Ship (WIP)

NuBoo2u2

Lieutenant Junior Grade
Red Shirt
Guess I'll finally start my own thread. I've always wanted to know what a TREK type ship would look like if "I" designed it. I've been trying to learn Blender and this is what I have so far. I believe I am finished with most of the external modeling but would like to try and aztec this thing but until I figure out and learn how to remove unwanted/unneeded geometry efficiently, I'm effectively stuck. Well, here she is.

Any type of feedback welcome.

Any tips on removing un-needed geometry that don't require a mind-numbing picking the edges one by one would be greatly appreciated! I can't seem to control what limited dissolve or decimate does to the degree I need. Both wreck things. Forgot to mention the following in the opening post:

Overall Dimensions:
length: 590 m
width: 366 m
height: 103 m

With that shape--she should be the "Madden" class ;)
Glad you noticed that! I did design this on a football shape. As this is my first attempt at starship design, I figured there should be plenty of problems with it. In wireframe mode a gremlin and a lemon can be seen in it! Along with a vampire robo-clown trooper and a Vorlon-like motif. Tried to make it all look shark-like. Wanted something that if a primitive being saw it, it might evoke feelings of "Celestial being or temple" or "Leviathan". Don't know if I pulled that off, but I tried. One of my favorite Trek ship designs are the Jem'Hadar fighters. They look simple but tough. Tried to incorporate that design aesthetic. Also incorporated design features of the Akira class, which I also love.

I could see this as an answer to the Jem'Hadar Scarab type attack ships...cheaper than earlier Defiant type ships

More like a Defiant design philosophy (but not aesthetic) applied to a Sovereign size ship: that is "tough BIG ships".
