Tyler Perry (Madea) in Trek XI

Ummmm...I see the thread about the test, but can you show me the specific mention of Tyler Perry. If so, I apologize.

Well it was mentioned in the OP. Anyway, I'm a "whatever" on this casting. I don't know from Perry one way or the other.

I did mention the "dude" at the end of the post... ;)

... being old, I'd no idea who this guy was either. Looking at his bio he's some giant ball of talent - acting, writing, directing. And apparently he practically brings a whole load of fans with him... Cinematical wrote about the news as if this casting could tip the audience to impressive numbers.

This is yet more impressive casting, I reckon.

Oops...you're right Santa Roshi. (And Arlo) :)
I did a search for Tyler Perry and didn't even bother to check your link. Oh well....close please if you wish mods.

Nah, that other thread is pretty hardcore on the whole "Kobayashi Maru" thing. We can discuss Tyler Perry's Star Trek here.

Ive not seen any of his work, he isn't big in the UK. He does have a good following and hes never acted in anything that he hasn't written and directed, so he must be a Trek fan.

Can only be a good thing for Trek XI.

Military tribunals aren't exactly like civilian ones. While there is a defense and a prosecution... there isn't a judge, or a jury, in the sense that you're probably accustomed to thinking of. Instead, there's a tribunal of several ranking officers. Go back and watch the TOS episode "Court Martial" for a great example of this... they "got it right" in that episode.

Or in "The Caine Mutiny" which is pretty much a perfect example and the seed material for quite a bit of the "Court Martial" structure...

Great. Does this mean the movie has to be called Tyler Perry's Star Trek now?

The man stamps his name on everything.

In the time it took you to ask that, you could have just used Google. "Madea" is the role Perry is most well known for, an older black woman.

That's true. My parents hate Star Trek but I just told them Tyler Perry is in this film and they're now planning to see it.

Hmmm....I read about this cat, but I don't know...would've preferred that guy that does the auto insurance commercials and was on "The Unit," I think...

...or Samuel L. Jackson.

At any rate, here's hoping the character's last name is Sisko.:D

\S/

Think low-rent Eddie Murphy. Who was supposed to be in ST:IV in the first place.

Isn't Eddie Murphy the low-rent Eddie Murphy these days?
