Two Words: "Simply Awesome"

The debate of whether or not this movie erases canon will continue until the end of time. Some will accept it as an alternate reality and some will not. I choose to accept what the writers conveyed, that this is a new alternate reality and the prime universe still exists.

And yes, this movie was awesome on oh so many levels! Believe me when I say it's 10x better the second time you see it!

I believe it was smart to change the reality...If for nothing else but flexibility for writing new stories w/o the strict restrictions of the orginal series canon...I think it was a brillant stoke..

This movie was indeed spectacular. It had the best opening scene I have ever watched for any movie! :) The battle between the Kelvin and the other ship was awesome as well..and there were scenes that I felt like crying..especially the end!!!!!!! :D

Yes the opening scence grabbed me and the movie never let go. I did not only feel like crying...to be honest a few drops escaped as the Kim was being born seconds before daddy kirk rammed the romulan ship...it was a glorious scene...

Just as I posted in the crowd reaction thread, my sis and nephew loved this movie, I can honestly say I got a real sense of being entertained. Most big blockbusters don't leave you feeling satsified, this one DID!

RAMA
Amen brother! I saw it for the third time today to a near sold out crowd and for the third time it got a round of applause once the credits rolled. The entertainment factor is very high. It's rare that a movie gets better each time you see it. Is it on Blu-ray yet?

I think my next real opportunity to check the movie out again is coming up Monday or Tuesday...Can't wait to fill in any thought gaps...

Saw it again today, a matinee showing in the middle of the burbs, and the theater was half full, with a very diverse crowd. I heard nothing but positive reactions coming out of the theater. Afterwards, my buddy spotted one of his co-workers with her teenagers daughters, and they couldn't stop raving about it.

I took my embarrassed-about-Star-Trek teenage daughter last night. She absolutely loved it. This morning she said to me, "I woke up thinking I want to watch more Star Trek with you guys".

I guess this must be how evangelists feel when they finally convert someone.

She also got about 90% of the TOS references so she's obviously absorbed some over the years. It's just utterly not-cool in her age group to like Trek but she did say she intends to tell the kids at school that it was an awesome movie!

I saw it for the 2nd time yesterday and enjoyed it even more than the first. Simply awesome is right!
