Yeah this is weird. To quote the article:

The Star Trek: The Next Generation – All Good Things Blu-ray release features the two-part The Next Generation finale as a full-length remastered high-def feature.

Isn't AGT already a 'full-length remastered high-def feature'? They aren't putting the two-part syndicated version on the regular set, are they?

No they're not. But, by spinning it off into a separate release they're able to fund additional features specific to the finale.

Why was All Good Things spun off to it's own Blu-ray? It's still included in the season 7 set right?

The series finale will be one episode on the bluray season 7 release. I see no reason why they would change it.

They have said before if they didn't do separate two parter TNG releases, they wouldn't have the budget for the extra features for those certain episodes.

I can afford the 'All Good Things' BluRay but not an entire season. They did the same thing with 'Best of Both Worlds'.

^ I can see the intrinsic value of it in that sense.

But on the other hand, a part of the appeal of the other 'individual' Blu Ray releases was that the episodes were two-parters that got paired together into a single "movie length" presentation. But in this case, the version of All Good Things is seemingly going to be 100% indentical on both releases, with the only exception being different value added content on the individual release.

But yeah, I've always been a supporter of the individual releases for this reason: I can see them being a good pick-up for people who like TNG and want some of the best episodes of the series on their shelf, but don't want to actually buy the entire season. I can definitely see how something like this is marketable to a wider (casual?) consumer. :)
