Two Days and Two Nights

GulBahana

Commander
Red Shirt
Just watched this episode for the first time in years. It just reminds me why I lost interest in Enterprise early. What really happens in this episode? A couple characters get mugged? Wow...not even the romantic encounter with Hoshi was that hot.

That woman Archer was interested in (can't remember her name) never returned which I found weird. Who was she working for Silick, another Cold War faction? A stupid episode

For me it's up there with "Precious Cargo"- meaning it was a lame episode. I watched it a second time to see if it was better on rewatch. It wasn't.
I believe this episode was directed by Michael Dorn, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not a good judge, generally, of how "good " a director is, since I don't know the job, I judge based on the writing. So, I can only assume Michael drew the "short stick " with this episode! (Though LaVar Burton may beg to differ , since he got "Extinction"!)

There's the Archer encounter. It's nice to see the crew get shore leave(Shore Leave, you say? What could go wrong???) I would say it's definitely better than DS9's "Let He Who is Without Sin," probably better than TOS' "Shore Leave," and quite as good as TNG's "Captain's Holiday."

I like the guest actress. She appeared in the DS9 episode where Odo has to protect a woman who keeps hacking into the station computer. Odo sleeps with her and it's his first encounter.

Another thing we see in this episode is that Enterprise is more serialized than previous shows. I don't consider that a positive necessarily, but fans had been asking for this, and continue to.

The Woman was Tandaran. In the episode "Detained," Archer and Mayweather are...well..detained with some Suliban. They are just average Joe Suliban who live in a concentration camp. The Tandarans have relocated all Suliban in their territory to concentration camps for their protection from other Tandaran citizens, and to keep an eye on them so they don't get recruited by the "cabal."

Archer feels sympathy and breaks them out. Word of this act spreads, as we hear a few episodes later in "Desert Crossing." The woman in "Two Days..." is a Tandaran agent following Archer. She tries to play on his sympathies and sift information about the Suliban, whom the Tandarans are at war with.

I had forgotten that sub plot. Yes, that was the best plot of the three. And I was really hoping for some "follow up" . But even though we see the Suliban again, we never see the Tandarians. And I was so hoping for more Dean Stockwell.

Because Scott and Dean together just give me warm fuzzies!

Why only 2 days and 2 nights? Do they have a schedule to keep? So many light-years they have to travel within a set period? Why only half the crew--shouldn't they stay long enough for everyone to get some shore leave?

I remember watching Season One as it aired, and for a few episodes the crew kept putting off their stop at Risa for the plot of the week. I started to think maybe they were building up to some kind of big event/episode on Risa. But nope. They get to Risa, and nothing happens. Well, except for Malcom and Trip. They will deny it of course.

Personally, I always liked the laid-back nature of this episode. Three little adventures instead of a single big one was a nice change of pace. All three plots offered nice little character moments and the bonding between Trip and Malcolm was cool. Plus, the episode is shot beautifully, with nice set design all around. It's a harmless little episode, I liked it. :)
