TWO Chekov's, both alike in dignity! (Yelchin is a DIFFERENT Chekov)!!

Re: TWO Chekov's, both alike in dignity! (Yelchin is a DIFFERENT Cheko

The Kelvin incident altered the course of events, resulting in Chekov's father to meet Chekov's mother several years earlier, meaning that he fathered Chekov years earlier, meaning an entirely different sperm met an entirely different egg, resulting in a different apperance -not the least of which being this Chekov having the dominant trait of curly hair.
Maybe not "meet". Maybe they were already married, but one or the other of them was assigned to the Kelvin, and escaped. Let's say it was Mama Chekov. Instead of waiting until the end of her tour on the Kelvin - a five year tour she was 2 years into - and then reupping for another five year tour, and then another, and then starting a family with Pavel being born in 2245 (original timeline), she came straight home and was immediately assigned to a new five year tour, reupped once, and then started her family with Pavel being born in 2241 (new timeline).

Thinks Minsk is in Russia, thinks St. Petersburg is still called Leningrad...yup, Chekov Prime must not have been the sharpest tool in the shed. :p
Um... that wasn't Chekov. That was from background dialog in ST:IV, when Earth was being affected by the Whale Probe. "Leningrad has lost all electrical power."

Didn't TOS Chekov claim that something (was it Scotch) was inwented by a "Little old Lady in Leningrad?" I know this dialogue took place, what I'm not sure of if it was in an episode or a non-canon setting like a game.

ETA: Yep, According to memory alpha, Checkov makes the claim in the Trouble With Tribbles. That doesn't necessarily point to Leningrad being Leningrad in the 23rd century though. Checkov could believe that Scotch was invented sometime between 1924 and 1991. He could also be referring to anytime in the past of a city that is called Leningrad in the 23rd century... anybody got a coin to flip?

True. And it had already occurred to me that there might be a Leningrad in the 23rd century that is completely separate from St. Petersburg, and that that Leningrad was what was being referred to in the background dialog in IV. I just wasn't going to say anything. :p

The Yelchin Chekov doesn't listen to Monkees music. I think we can safely assume that.

Re: TWO Chekov's, both alike in dignity! (Yelchin is a DIFFERENT Cheko

The original Chekov took Spock's place at the science station when necessary. He was probably very intelligent, as well.

Re: TWO Chekov's, both alike in dignity! (Yelchin is a DIFFERENT Cheko

Hm, well, I hope he at least loves Beatles ...

Re: TWO Chekov's, both alike in dignity! (Yelchin is a DIFFERENT Cheko

The NuChekov is a child prodigy and genius who skipped ahead because of his incredible scientific aptitude..

OldChekov wasn't as smart.
Why? Nowhere it's said that he isn't smart.

ST6. After years of experience, tactical officer Chekov completely clueless that vaporizing someone onboard a starship would set off an alarm. That or someone's been shocked by an exploding control station one too many times.

All his screaming over the years neutralized the long-term memory part of his brain.

Kudos to Yelchin giving a humourous but very strait character.

Loved the fact that the computer and even the crew had to think about his words as they were so, well, Russian. The computer taking three attempts to understand him.

All the charcters in this movie however are alternate versions of TOS characters, but hey, Anton was soo fucking great i dont care if he looked like Oprah fucking Winfrey.

The whole Genius thing was great, kinda Wesley Crusher-ish, but it was done really well. The fact that he ran to the transporter room cos he could lock the signals for Kirk and Spock. Loved it.

As for looks etc, Meh, Anton was excellent.

And yeah, Koenig did look ridiculous.

"Wulcan" A refrence to 'Wessles' maybe.
