Two And A Half Men (CBS) Ashton Kutcher!!!

Does anyone think the show's gonna flop with Ashton Kutcher? Yeah, the ratings are gonna spike for the 1st episode and stay high for maybe 2-4 weeks, but where are the ratings going to be in January-February?

I'd say that's a given unless Dumbasston really brings something to the table. And I suspect it will also have the effect of killing Mike and Molly too.

Probably. I'm a big fan of the show, but Charlie has always been my least favorite character, so I'll be checking out the new episodes.

Will Charlie Sheen be back for the Regeneration sequence?

Naw. We'll just see Kutcher from behind wearing a bad wig.

It seems that they are killing off Charlie. I don't watch the show much but I'm not sure how I feel about this. Sitcoms don't usually kill off main characters unless the actor dies too (Coach on Cheers, John Ritter on 8 Simple Rules..., Bill on NewsRadio). The only exception I can think of right off is Col. Blake on M*A*S*H but that's different. That was such a heavy show anyway and people were always dying on the show anyway, what with it being a war 'n all. I just don't know how the hell they're going to manage the tone of something like that.

I have a friend who works on the WB lot. He sent me this in an e-mail today...

well, the first ep of TAAHM is in the can. word on the WB lot is that the crowd was into it. And by the way, Ashton's trailor, whoa. They had to repaint the street lines around it. Already out did charlie's by a mile.

I will be checking out the S9 premiere "Nice To Meet You, Walden Schmidt" tonight at 9PM EDT on CBS...but I really wish I could see the Charlie Sheen Roast on Comedy Central at 10PM EDT tonight...but I don't have cable. :(

How they introduce Ashton's character will be a 2 parter so tonight and next Monday will be worth it.

[edit] About the Sheen Roast...Laura Vandervoort(V, Smallville) will be there.

I watched the show for a bit. Lost interest part way through S2 but caught few after that here and there since my gf liked it. What'sHisFace replacing Sheen guarantees I won't watch.

so, your input is that you haven't watched the show (regularly) in 6.5 years (this is season 9), but based upon the new casting, now you definitely won't? Thanks for the input, I guess, but if you haven't watched in that long, guess they probably won't worry about whether this change will lose you as a viewer or not...

Since that show as it was wasn't really doing anything for you, and you haven't actually SEEN the change yet, how would you really have any opinion on it, much less deciding you're less likely to watch now? You didn't like it before, they changed things, isn't there at 50/50 shot it'll be MORE appealing now?

Wow. What an incredibly intelligent post. You're my hero. Can I have your autograph? Go back and re-read my post, this time with some degree of comprehension and see if you can spot the following: If/when I said watched it first run (might be the DVDs my gf, therefore our household, buys) and whether or not I said I've watched it since.

And here's another news flash for you... Shows frequently rely on cast changes to bring in new viewers or bring back old ones. So my disliking Asshat Catcher and that assuring I won't tune back in is relevant. To a few others as well. So why not re-read the entire thread and quote everyone else who said essentially the same things I did.

Love you too, sweetheart. Not sure how attempting to start a flame war in the friggin' TV forum is gonna help your point, though...

Not an improvement, but let's see where it goes...

If/when I said watched it first run (might be the DVDs my gf, therefore our household, buys) and whether or not I said I've watched it since.
ok, let's check it out, and see how I did:

I watched the show for a bit. Lost interest part way through S2 but caught few after that here and there since my gf liked it.
Shockingly, I interpreted that as that you've watched the first season and a half or so (out of 8), and a few episodes here and there since then. How's that reading comprehension? If you meant something other than what you wrote, can't help you there...

And where I went with that is that you're not much of a fan (the 'lost interest part-way through season 2' bit ;) ), and don't watch a lot of it. Seems fair, since that's almost word for word what you said.

And here's another news flash for you... Shows frequently rely on cast changes to bring in new viewers or bring back old ones.
Since they had the #1 comedy on TV for the past 5-6 years in a row (at least), pretty sure that's not why they made a change, Cronkite. Speaking of news flashes, you may have read something about Charlie Sheen a few months back?

Your point isn't wrong in general, although not sure that's the most common reason for a cast change (usually contractual, or actor wants to move on to other things, or like this case, where actor is just a dick). I'm sure they wouldn't MIND bringing in new viewers, but as previously mentioned, it was beating just about everything but American Idol before shit hit the fan, so they'd probably be thrilled if they just brought in most of the people that were watching before.

So my disliking Asshat Catcher and that assuring I won't tune back in is relevant.
I know, you think they'd have asked you before they decided, right? Turns out that he appears to not be completely unpopular, though, so sure there's at least a couple people that are gonna cancel out your quitting watching a show that, uh, you already weren't watching. Since you already decided it was going to suck before seeing it, not sure what they really could have done to change your mind anyway, since you didn't consult it in the decision.

To a few others as well. So why not re-read the entire thread and quote everyone else who said essentially the same things I did.
Sorry champ, but the facts kinda slap you down on this one. Just re-read the thread, and NO ONE said essentially what you said. There was one or two questioning whether the ratings were gonna suffer from the drastic change, one guy saying he like Charlie and didn't wanna watch without his favorite character, and one guy calling Kutcher a dumbass. Guess the 'dumbass' quote is close, but that's about it. Pretty sure a rough count shows a lot more people interested in the change, or at least willing to actually watch the episode before deciding how dumb it was.

Thanks for playing, though... :guffaw:

Ok, that opening was a little weird. On a side note, all the gals they got back for the opening scene, Jenny McCarthy, Jerri Ryan, et al, all I can say is . . .

I did enjoy seeing Jenny McCarthy & Jeri Ryan. :adore: Also all the other guest stars.

It was kind of funny and I will watch next week but I probably won't be watching it too much this season.

It was alright. Entertaining the number of guest stars for that one, at least. Hard to say how Kutcher is really gonna be until they settle down a little, but alright so far...

At first I thought they were going with making Ashton the anti-Charlie (didn't like booze, in love with his wife, etc) but by the end of the episode, we were seeing shades of Charlie.

Not sure how I felt about it, maybe a little better than I was expecting, but it's still not going to be the same. I'll give it some more time.

I've only seen the show once, because an older friend wanted to watch it. Duckie went on a date that his mom set him up with; the woman got drunk and misbehaved in a restaurant. Hilarity ensued. I don't remember what Charlie did in that one, or for that matter where the half-a-man chubby kid was.
