Twilight: The Graphic Novel

So I got this from the library on the weekend out of curiosity and because Young Kim's art is excellent. Let me make myself clear first off...I hate Twilight. I attempted reading the first book and couldn't get past the first chapter. Found it to be really bad writing and dry. I've seen about ten to fifteen minutes of the first film because a friend of mine forced me to watch it with her and I made her turn it off after she mentioned that Edward "sparkled".

That being said...I'm quite enjoying Young Kim's adaption. His art is fantastic, Bella looks a little like an anime version of Buffy Summers than Kristen Stewart so that in it's self is pleasing (not a Kristen Stewart fan at all either). The writing is to the point and surprisingly not as annoying as I found the first person narrative to be in the partial chapter I read in the book. This isn't going to make me a Twilight fan by any stretch but I did find the graphic novel enjoyable mostly as I've stated due to Young Kim's art. It's clean, traditional manga style art, crisp. Hard to describe and I'm hardly an art expert. I would recommend picking this up if only to enjoy the artwork. Stephanie Meyer says in a short statement on the back of the book that this adaption is very close to how she originally imagined the characters (not sure if that is a veiled diss to the films or not) so it has her stamp of approval if that means anything to Twilight fans. I assume the rest of the books will be eventually adapted, not sure how sales of this did. Check it out if you wish.

I seen the novel. The drawings great, I enjoyed reading/ seeing it. Its different, then what I expected. But, in a good way. =]
