TVM Coming to Blu-Ray

I never got them, but weren't the Blu Rays for Series 1-4 upconverted poorly? Hopefully they've learned since then. Even if done properly, it might not be worth it. I say that because the Spearhead from Space Blu Ray apparently looks good, but leaves off several special features from the DVD. If Doctor Who: The Movie Blu Ray looks good, has all the special features (and maybe more?) and comes to the US (obviously) I'd think about picking it up, even though I already have it on DVD in the "Doctors revisited: 5-8" set. Hopefully they'll put his regeneration on there as a special feature, and the animated Shada would be neat.

Does anyone have a list of which UK/Aus Doctor Who Blu-rays are 60Hz? The Day of the Doctor single release (because of the 3D aspect) certainly. What else?

Edit - since the movie was filmed in Canada, it should be 60Hz natively. I hope they don't convert it.

It's been confirmed by BBC Worldwide.

Over on Gallifrey Base, Steve Roberts has declared no knowledge of it, and is almost certain it's an upscale. It's been suggested that it's being done alongside the first few Red Dwarf series (apparently there's been Japanese demand for those), which since they were shot on video, are certainly upscales.

It's an upscale. I can't be certain, but I've heard the original 35mm film negatives are missing and may have been destroyed. Even if they haven't, it won't sell enough to make back the cost of reassembling it in the first place.

Well, I recently went looking for The Doctors Revisited volume 1 in order to get Tomb of the Cybermen, but found all three volumes in a set for $30 instead. As my Blu-ray player plays DVDs, I guess I'm just going to settle for getting my 8th Doctor movie in that.

So basically if you already have the DVD and have a blu ray player, then you are already watching this movie upscaled from your DVD copy, do i have that right.

Yep. The original film elements are locked in a vault somewhere in America, if they even still exist, so all there is is the video-finished master copy that will have slightly better compression on a blu-ray.
