Spoilers TVLine.com's blind item is likely DSC

I'm thinking the Expanse, also. Plus it will be on Amazon now instead of sci fi. might have a lot of new sets, etc
If you mean the gates, you don't time travel through them. They're aliens not wizards. And the show will have the same sets, the first half of Season 4 is the final half of Book 3.

The next season is supposed to involve an offworld colony, which will take awhile to set up. Plus Naomi's son is supposed to be a character, and she's too young now in the show to plausibly have a teen/adult son.

No. They finished book 3 last season. Next season is book 4 plus new earthside content.

The article does hint that not all the storylines of the show will have the timejump. It seems like within an episode, some scenes will be set 20 years ahead, and others not. I feel that type of storytelling is more Star Trek than The Expanse.

If the article didn't say it was timejump forward 20 years, I'd say it was Mr. Robot, as the whole point of the show is to go back in time.

I thought they were going to adapt some of the stuff cut out. They're taking creative liberties keeping the same cast anyway, so why not time jump them.

DSC has already thrown everything else at the wall to see what sticks. Why not age up the entire cast to boot?

Shankar explicitly said in an interview they are adding totally new things so that the main cast who don't end up on Ilus in the fourth novel (basically everyone not on the Roci) will be able to have things to do next season.

Any stable wormhole travels in time as well as space. It's not wizardry, its the matter of there being no fixed "time" in the universe that every clock is set from. Time is not equivalent to c.

anyway, yes in the books they're not traveling in time, but a lot of time DOES go by in them.

I suspect it's not DSC, but if it is jumping ahead 20 years, that brings us to 2277, just one year before this:

I wasn't too keen on the TWOK uniforms being around that early, even back in 1992. I like to think those uniforms were juuuuuuust introduced.

It's not about Discovery, what's even the reasoning for that? Because the article mentions stars having to align? That might be a hint that it's a sci-fi show but there are some where it makes narratively way more sense to do a huge jump. Discovery is also deep in production of season 2 while the article makes it sound like this time jump might happen or not, it's not a sure thing yet and that basically rules out Discovery.

It's probably the idea for a proposed second season of The First with Sean Penn, it would allow them to show the mars colony up and running instead of 6 people in a micro colony doing the same boring shit every day.

I doubt the article is about DSC. I'll bet that in the internet forums of streaming shows, they're all thinking it's their show.

It's not about Discovery
Probably not but it would be interesting to see how the DSC producers reboot the TMP era given that they are heavily influenced by TUC in their visuals.

The monster maroon could be made of leather now. Or totally reimagined to be a more comfortable looking uniform.

They could remove the blinky light panels from the TMP era bridges and have touch screen panels with constantly moving and updating LCARS screens.

They could canonise bridge windows in the TMP era making the enterprise, excelsior, Grissom, reliant, and Saratoga all anomalies for having a screen only.

This could be the opportunity to cement DSC not only *in* canon, but *as* canon.

Could be fun.

20 years later, im thinking it's Walking Dead, though they weren't supposed to jump THAT far ahead by the comics, they are nowhere inline with the comics anyway.

My guess is it's not Discovery but Game of Thrones; and probably something they did for the final episode that its fans will see in 2019.

The time jump on the upcoming season of Walking Dead is confirmed to only be eighteen months after season 8's finale.
