Friends usually have a lot of common interests. My friend & I like a lot of the same shows-- Animaniacs, Doctor Who, The Simpsons, Stargate SG-1, etc. But there are a couple shows that, whenever they come up, always start fights between the 2 of us. Does that ever happen to the rest of you?
For us...
South Park. I think that show is the most socially relevent TV series ever. It's a much needed satire of the sorry state of American culture today. Stan & Kyle are the super-ego, the voice of reason. The people of South Park, frequently personified by Stan's father, are the ego, the terrified, malleable masses too quick to adopt the latest media hysteria. Cartman is the raging id, the sum of every vice you could ever think of. This has been the only show to have to guts to directly tackle such diverse topics as censorship, Mormons, Scientology, NAMBLA, Catholic pedophilia, Paris Hilton, etc.
My friend just can't get beyond the scatological humor.
That '70s Show. My friend loves it. I just don't get it.
