TV Ratings (Tuesday 25th November)

Fringe was getting 10 to 10.5 million viewers last year after House.
And now Fringe isn't getting that many viewers. If people really liked it they would stick with it whether it was on Tuesday at 9 or Thurs at 9 or Fri a 9. So obviously people don't find it as interesting as last year or it was one of those shows that certain people liked but something better is on and they aren't as passionate a viewer to be bothered to DVR it if it conflicts with SN or Grey's Anatomy or CSI.

Do you live in a dreamland? DVRing means NOTHING!

I think I'm going to talk to a wall now...

DVR+7 days viewings would see Fringe get ratings not too far off another FOX show like Bones. Fringe loses a lot of older viewers to CSI and younger viewers to Greys, a lot of shows would struggle in that slot. It would take a show tht has been established for years to take on them two such as House.

DVR may not be great for ad companies but its a great way for networks to see if a timeslot is working or not. Fringe has the base but needs a better time and I feel Wednesday nights are up for grabs and it should be moved there.

Fox gave Dollhouse 26 episodes, that's 20 more episodes than they should have. The show is just a horrible mess that wasn't thought out well. It should have been so much better than it turned out to be.

Ah stop bullshitting. The pilot had a lot of cues and foreshadowing for things that happened later in the series. Dollhouse is very carefully planned show, perhaps too carefully. Each episode throws pieces of puzzles in the air which all come together in their time. The revelation of Belonging was already in the pilot as a visual cue.

The show is a mess, stop bullshitting yourself.

You may be shocked but your opinion is not fact, its your opinion and others can have there own. You seem to hate most things anyway so I will take your opinion on any show with a huge pinch of salt.

They put something up against a ratings powerhouse and assume the show isn't viable simply because not enough people watch it. (Or to be more precise, aren't watching the actual BROADCAST).
Not watching the actual broadcast is the problem - there's some value imputed to DVR viewings, especially if they're within three days (not seven) of the original broadcast, but their value is discounted by advertisers who don't feel that the ad viewing has the same value (for starters, they can tell how many people aren't watching the ads, and that cuts the value in half right away).

It doesn't matter how good a show is. If it doesn't attract enough people who are inclined to watch the original broadcast, it's cancelled.

The advertisers run the show. Not surprising, since they are the ones who put the money into the system that makes the whole system go. If a timeslot is not working to promote ad viewing, then it is not working, period. There's no other goal for any of this than to get people to watch ads.
