That demo for Eleventh Hour is still pretty low. It's surviving off the CSI lead-in. A mere 56% retention for the demo of a hit show is a poor predictor of survival. Shows with strong lead-ins are saddled with higher expectations and get cancelled when they fail to meet those expectations. I wouldn't call that one a winner at all, or even be too sanguine about hopes for a second season.

Life on Mars
will be the 10pm lead-out for Lost starting in Jan. That should sink it for good. I don't see the Lost audience giving a flip about LoM unless they already happen to be watching it. Even if the numbers go up, they won't match expectations.

As for our big hit The Mentalist, the last regular run demo was a 3.5/9, compared with the recent demo of the "rapidly losing steam" Heroes at 3.6/8. Funny ain't it? If Heroes were a new show this season with the same ratings it's getting now, it would be a big hit! :rommie:

^ if Kath & Kim, is being kept by NBC, then you know NBC is in trouble. Pretty much anything is a hit for them right now, hell they cant even complete axe Lipstick Jungle, which is hanging around NBC like a zombie.

The Mentalist is maybe the one true new hit of the season, 11 million for a repeat impressive

NCIS repeats from the other 2 weeks did the same thing so I guess CBS will keep doing that till Flashpoint returns. If I was CBS I would re-air Eleventh Hour instead because it needs more viewers but for now it gets the winners list however remains like that then I won't be so kind for long and neither will CBS.

^ it was the most watched show on CBS that night.

I agree 11th Hour needs the rerun more, help it attract some new viewers.

^ very true, im just surprised they go with the repeat episode, since it plunges the whole night to something similar to the CW

The perception that Heroes is fading, whereas The Mentalist is a big hit is only "funny" if it is assumed the the 18-49 demo is by far key factor. If on the other hand, total numbers still count for a lot, Heroes is in fact fading and The Mentalist is a bigger hit. If winning the 18-49 demographic were so important, wouldn't NBC have renewed ER instead of finishing it off with one last season? When Threshold kept playing tag for number one spot in the 18-49 demographic (I don't think it ever came third,) I decided that programming to win the 18-49 demographic is like playing to come in second.

Life on Mars retention rate, in numbers and the 18-49 demographic, are even worse than Eleventh Hour's, so Private Practice is getting the superior time slot come January. Whatever NBC puts in play next fall will probably make them wish they had ER back. CBS clearly is not satisfied with Eleventh Hour's performance---they have not yet ordered a full season, so far as I know, even though Eleventh Hour is winning the slot in total viewers pretty consistently and placing second in 18-49 demo pretty consistently too. My guess is they're waiting to see how Eleventh Hour does against Private Practice.

Once again... ER spinoff... ;)

I bet anyone we will see than come next year, maybe May for the fall line-up announcement.

Why not just another season of ER?

(For my part, I doubt I'd watch a spinoff, but am onboard for however long ER is allowed to run. Chicago and the sense of passing time at a place of normal life are two things I like about the series, and which I'd be loathe to give up.)

I think last season NBC was in better shape and figured they didn't need ER. Now it's one of their stronger performers.

As for Heroes vs. The Mentalist, if The Mentalist was only pulling in 7.86 million viewers a week with the same demo, no one would consider it a hit.
