TV Ratings - The Pandorica Opens & The Big Bang

Final figures are in at last after a delay of several days and its good for The Pandorica Opens, which scored a final figure of...

7.57 million viewers.

On BBC One it is understood the programme got 6.94 million watching, enough to make it the fourth most watched programme of the week for BBC One, just being beaten by three matches in the Fifa World Cup

an additional 0.635 million watched on BBC HD and when added together the programme totalled 7.58 million viewers with an audience share of 37 percent

That HD number is a record for Doctor Who.

Over half a million watched the BBC 3 repeat.

The AI Index was 88 a season record until part broke it with 89

The final numbers will be up for The Big Bang in a few days so thought I'd post them in here instead of starting a new thread.

Based off those numbers I expect The Big Bang to get over 7 million but fall short of part 1 and probably get a share of 33-35%. Also I player will probably add close to 2 million within 30 days of airing. Not a bad ending to a good season and a solid one in the ratings.

Ugh, this story gave me a hell of a scare when I read the headline. Goddammit, the internet is gonna give me an ulcer.

What is going on here anyway. I got a twitter thing (And it was mentioned on a Podcast I listen to) saying that there was a rumor that BBC might want Smith to leave the role because of the drop in ratings. I have to wonder why, since there was World Cup Football, and it sounded like the BBC always timeshifted the season each week. Kinda makes it hard for people to know when it was going to be on. I'm actually a bit surprised given how anal this board is on ratings that this rumor hasn't been brought up that much.

The rumors are tosh because overall the season ratings average is above 7 million and not far off DT numbers. I player numbers have gone up quite a bit and BBC do take those numbers seriously. The reports online all were coming off overnight numbers not finals.

Partial finals have been released for the finale though without HD numbers so we won't get the full finals for a few more days possibly...

6.12 million viewers

HD numbers if they keep up will probably will see final figure of 6.7-7 million. The repeat on BBC 3 however scored above average ratings with over 700,000 and the I Player early numbers are still set to be released. Even without the HD numbers Doctor Who is still in the top 10 of BBC shows that week (9th).

Also it did score the higest AI score of the entire season with an 89.

To be honest if they got rid of Smith their ratings would drop by at least one ;)

That better be bullshit!

I should think it is. Smith is brilliant in the role. And I have to think that the World Cup has had some affect on viewing figures being somewhat down.

I'd prefer the BBC just cancelled the show rather than pull that Colin Baker shiat again.

They're not going to, series 6 is set to start filming this month, Matt Smith has said he's read the scripts, now I suppose they could get rid of him after 2 series, but who knows what'll happen between now and then.

My normal source has let me down but I heard from another one that I use to find out the share numbers, that the final figure was around...

6.7 million

A little dissapointing I was hoping for 7 million however like I reported before the BBC 3 repeat was higher than normal but also it seems I player numbers are past 1 million already and at this rate will pass 2 million before BBC pulls it off I player. Also the share % figure will probably end up around 1 in 3 when I get hold of that but in the words of Moffat...

"I don't care how they watch it as long as they do"

;)

Said it before, all that matters is the AI unless the ratings are a disaster. These ratings are disappointing after the highs towards the end of DT/RTD and the start of this season though. I don't expect to see anything changing any time soon, certainly not Matt Smith considering the BBC gave him a three year deal where I think he gets paid less over that three years than Tennant was over one year.

AI and share are deffo the key as BBC and mid to late 80's with better then 1 in 3 :) bloody brilliant.

Ecclestone ratings with an AI in the 80s is good for Who.

Tennant ratings and AI were amazing for Who, even if the hardcore Who fans hated RTD.

91 is the highest for any Doctor Who episode since its return far as I know with it appearing twice (Stolen Earth/Journeys End).
