I won't post the numbers for sunday this week because only 30 mins numbers are out and I can't be bothered to work out the averages for but here you go if you want a look...Sunday Ratings

ABC

Dancing with the Stars (2 hour) - 20.38 million & 4.2/10

Castle - 11.75 million & 2.8/8

CBS

How I Met Your Mother - 9.08 million & 3.5/9

Rules of Engagement - 8.64 million & 3.1/8

Two and a Half Men - 14.02 million & 4.4/11

90210 - 1.85 million & 0.8/2

Gossip Girl - 1.81 million & 0.9/2

I will post the cable ratings for Dexter & Boardwalk Empire once I have them.

Last night's episode of Chase was ludicrous. I don't expect it or The Event to receive a second season. The Event is losing my attention quickly.

Rules of Engagement and Hawaii Five-O are in serious trouble now by CBS standards and the rumor mill is already going that both will be axed by May unless they improve.

FOX you have wasted monday night last fall and this year you look to be ready to waste it for the entire season. Why wasn't Fringe moved ey ? Lie To Me has never done anything in its 3 season run to warrant its place.

NBC should quit the arc based shows because that will only have a chance on networks with a proven audience and NBC those days are long gone. The entire monday night needs replacing in Fall 2011.

I've heard people on other sites saying Castle should be moved because ABC could get better retention with a different show...BOLLOCKS. No other 10pm ABC show would do much better, especially Private Practice which falls under 9 million without an original Grey's episode to lead in. Castle in the past without DWTS as a lead in still gets 9-10 million.

CW - Time to end both those shows and your miserable network.

I meant to watch that Matt Lauer special but didn't.
Are those good numbers for a sit down interview show?
They seem modest to decent. How does it compare to some of the Barbara Walters sit downs I wonder? That's the closest comparison I can think of.

Decent numbers but with a former president like Bush doing the interview you would think it would get higher numbers.

If Lauer and Bush were on Dancing with the Stars, on the other hand, the ratings there would go through the roof! :p

I don't watch DWTS, but has anyone who appeared on that show actually been able to parlay the attention into success? The actors are usually has-beens or never-will-bes. Kelly Monaco is still on her soap opera despite being the first winner. I know there were talks about Jason Taylor moving into movies afterward had he left football, but he's still playing football.

shows the CW has...

C=Canceled F=Final Season

90210
Gossip Girl
One Tree Hill
Life Unexpected-C
America's Next Top Model
Hellcats
The Vampire Diaries
Nikita
Smallville-F
Supernatural-F

That will be 3 shows gone next fall and at least 3(90210, GG & OTH) that should be canceled.

CW is doomed!

We don't actually know yet if this will be Supernatural's final season. The two leads both extended their contracts through a seventh year, and I don't think the CW would want to let two of their best performing shows end at the same time.

I don't think they're going to let Smallville and Supernatural go in the same season. They'll be dragging SPN out for at least another year.

I was under the impression that S6 was it.

[edit] And doesn't TVD & ANTM have better ratings than S'ville & SPN?

Supernatural will probably end after 7 because CW will want it to anchor the friday night lineup next season. As for CW the new show Nikita is deffo one for the bin with falling ratings and the fact than it doesn't capture enough of the 18-34 market as other CW shows...Really CW how did you not know that more young horny men would watch the show than your female demo.

Ouch, guess The Event won't be renewed. And I thought Hawaii 5-0 was making a lot more ratings than that.

Nobody is going to pass up an episode of DWTS for anything!
Not really.
I find the paint drying/grass growing double header to be better time wasted than DWTS.

I just don't get the overt attachment to celebrities that we've seen the last few years. Especially doing "normal stuff" just being bitchy about it.

The Dancers
Ice Skating(which didnt' last thankfully)
Apprentice
Survivor
Get Me Out of Here
The "match making shows" like Brett Michaels & Ray Jay
Kardashians
Holly's World
Kendra's show whatever that is called
Rina and Hamlin, whatever that is called.

These are not interesting people and their staged "real" drama is so poorly done. It's on par with a Uwe Boll movie, really it is.

You are seriously mistaken. Nikita's w 18-34 numbers are higher then its male 18-34 numbers.

That is a huge problem for Nikita. While the CW really pushes its w 18-34 numbers, in truth it loves both genders in the highly profitable 18-34 age group. And in fact shows like Reaper, Aliens in America and Nikita were all created to get men 18-34 viewers and all three failed. With Reaper and Nikita having far more success in adults older then 49, thus even with a larger audience they generate far less revenue.

Person for person an adult 18-34 number generates more revenue then an adults 18-49.

And men generate higher revenue then women. Its just that for everything except sports, men watch a lot less tv.

As for Nikita its last two weeks numbers for women 18-34 have been 1.1. Its male numbers for those same weeks have been .7.

One of the reasons Smallville and Supernatural have been around for many years is that they do generate a male audience. On Thursday that is really important as film's pay high premiums for Thursday night ads. And while tv is driven by female viewers, films are driven by male viewers.

One of the success' for VD is that it does fairly well in men 18-34.

To date its season average in men 18-34 is 1.15 (only Smallville 1.4, and Supernatural 1.214 do better).

Nikita is barely holding 65% of the male 18-34 audience of VD. Last year SN actually had growth out of VD male numbers.

[edit] And doesn't TVD & ANTM have better ratings than S'ville & SPN?

It's almost a given that SN will have a season 7 (its numbers easily support this). The CW is the only network that has numbers on Friday that beat their average through the week. In fact its their overall 2nd best night in viewers and adults 18-49. SN has dropped 8% year to year on its move to Friday, to the best of my knowledge that the smallest drop any show in the last 3 years has had moving to Friday (and it is the smallest drop any show on the CW has had moving to Friday or UPN for that matter). In comparison WWE dropped 17%, Smallville dropped 36%, Enterprise dropped over 15%, the urban comedies dropped 20%.

Networks expect Friday to perform across the board about 20% to 25% worse then any other night of the week, except Saturday.

So for Smallville and Supernatural to be 3rd and 4th in viewers and adults 18-49 shows how well both are doing.

The fact that Smallville and Supernatural beat Nikita in viewers, adults 18-49, adults 18-34, men 18-34, and SN beats Nikita in w 18-34) on Friday is staggering. Consider that Nikita has the best lead in of any show on the CW.

Rules of Engagement and Hawaii Five-O are in serious trouble now by CBS standards and the rumor mill is already going that both will be axed by May unless they improve.
Are the ratings really that bad for Hawaii Five-O, or is it just that it's expensive to film in Hawai'i? It looks like Castle and Five-O have both settled into a certain level (Castle averaging 11.5-12 million, Five-O averaging 10.5-11 million), and as you pointed out, Castle still holds its own without a Dancing lead-in. Not sure where CBS is magically going to get these viewers from. A shame, because the show's starting to grow on me.

Are the ratings really that bad for Hawaii Five-O, .

I was kind of wondering that myself. If Jax is right, it's almost like CBS expects every show to be NCISish in the ratings. I think these TV execs need to lighten up a little. IF in fact they axe shows, like H50, Defenders, Shat My Dad Says, etc after only 1 season, what motivation is there for ANY viewer to give ANY new CBS show a chance? Why bother watching and getting attached to a show if they're just gonna yank it because it doesn't get eleventybillion viewers?

And is it a self fulfilling prophecy? CBS threatens to axe a show so that makes even LESS people watch it, which makes it's ratings even worse and ensures it's cancellation. Again I wonder with the abundance of TV channels and other entertainment options, how much longer can the free TV model last? Not so long ago, I was arguing it would be around awhile, but after seeing the continual ratings declines for most shows, I have to wonder if we aren't a lot closer than I originally thought.

The Good Wife is also supposed to be in trouble despite getting 12 million viewers because the demo is low. Hawaii Five-O problem is that CSI:Miami did much better. I agree CBS are too picky especially with The Good Wife, which fits the CBS demo audience just fine as a 10pm slot IMO (remember what happened to Without A Trace).

RoE is the one in the biggest trouble because its in the same place in terms of ratings for many other canned CBS sitcoms of the past.

NCIS: Hawaii's ratings have fallen a lot, it's a very unstable show.

The bigger is now is that, the show sucks, but also that Castle is beating it, which CBS really doesn't like.
