Bye bye Heroes, ABC should have kept Boston Legal, the ratings were great for 10pm. ;)

Castle should be fine for more episodes / new season.

What did Heroes premiere with--6 million? Looks like at the very least there wasn't great audience attrition.

Though that's damning the show with faint praise.

Dancing With The Stars, House, Two and a Half Men, CSI: Miami and The Big Bang Theory

Honorable Mention...
How I Met Your Mother

Solid...

Early Danger Signs...
Accidentally on Purpose and Lie To Me

Losers...
Heroes, Trauma, Jay Leno Show, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill

Round-Up
ABC won the night thanks to a strong DWTS though the show is down from one year ago but lets talk about Castle instead. I think the show is doing a very good job because lets face it CBS owns every single 10pm slot over the week and ABC have struggled with that slot. Forget the demo and retention issues because DWTS is a monster hit which really any show on ABC would fail to match at 10pm. Castle pulling over 9 million is worthy of a full season pickup and a 3rd season.

CBS has nothing really to complain about despite Two & Half Men down from one year ago and soon to lose its crown to Big Bang at this rate as CBS number 1 rated comedy. I predicted CBS moving TBBT to 9:30 after trying it out once last season and they have made one of the smartest moves this season...TBBT is becoming a massive hit. The only really worry is Accidentally on Purpose, which cannot afford to drop any lower or HIMYM will be looking for a new partner next season.

House my number 1 show on TV this season keeps on trucking though while I fully agree with FOX who thought Lie To Me would provide a perfect partnership its not quite worked on debut week. I am surprised Lie To Me loss around 50 % of House's viewership but if worse comes to worse I would give it a new night because just shire of 8 million and a 3.0 demo is not bad for a 2nd season show for FOX.

NBC is heading to a new low this season and Heroes is close to death...TICK TOCK the countdown clock Mr Kring. Trauma is dead on arrival and the Jay Leno experiment has gone all wrong.

CW shows continue year ago erosions and I suspect come seasons end GG will fall below the 2 million mark and OTH below 2.5

I've never seen a show drop like this with the former NBC hit losing around 60% of it audience from the debut season.

The folks who stuck around thru the premiere apparently came back, yeah. But it's the demo not the number of millions you should look at.

And what you should really look at is the demo of the other NBC shows in comparison to Heroes. NBC's boring new fall lineup is doing worse than Heroes in the demo - and for new shows, that's the kiss of death. NBC can't cancel everything...:rommie:

The return of the Renew/Cancel index still has Heroes on the renew side of the line. Add Trauma to the cancel end of the spectrum, and that bumps Heroes up a bit more. It's the same as last year - The Office is first, Heroes is second.

Honestly, if NBC can't do better than unimaginative crap like Mercy and Trauma, they have to keep Heroes which at least has an audience even if they all pirate and DVR it.

There are other strategies NBC could pursue before cancelling Heroes - moving it to Friday on the assumption that the pirate/DVR audience doesn't care when it airs, and Friday is a wasteland anyway, is one idea. Right now, Heroes is too strong by NBC standards to merit such a move. The ratings would have to drop more. :rommie: Or a new NBC show would have to get decent ratings for a change.

I'm sure there are plenty of shows that have dropped much worse. IIRC, that horrid Bionic Woman remake dropped 60% w/n the first few episodes, nevermind taking whole seasons to accomplish that.

What I meant to say was a show that was so well reviewed after its debut season, that 1st season was true landmark for story telling on TV.

now look

Really???? I knew the show was screwed after the horrible anti-climatic horrible season finale finale. I never tuned in for season 2 and never looked back.

Also I hate Lie To Me, just is so boring! So I'm hoping it's heading to canceled land. :)

How can you hate Lie To Me. That is a great show.

The thing is Leno probably isn't going anywhere. I recall reading an interview with one of the suits at NBC from around the time was announced and they were asked about ratings and the survival of the show. If memory serves he said that as long as Leno had more than 5 Million viewers NBC was keeping the show on.

I doubt that Lie to Me is really in danger. FOX's shows don't get big ratings outside of House and Bones so it should be fine.

I'm shocked that Big Bang Theory has actually caught on with the masses. It's a far cry from the stereotypical family/workplace sitcom crap they'd normally lap up.

Great news though. If you had told me a few years ago that all my favorite sitcoms would be on CBS, I would have thought you were smoking crack.

If you stick a show on after House you would really like said show to keep more than 50% of the audience. However the demo is still strong.
