I'm in favor of that, more so with "bubble" shows. If it works for the series great, it should be done. I think series now are getting to carried away with season finales. Have a cliffhanger where you want more, but not a cliffhanger where it's like Riker going "Fire!"

Chuck ended on a massive "holy crap I can't wait to watch next year" moment.

The Subway cross promotion was also huge for Chuck. It was so successful for Subway they sent NBC a letter personally asking them to renew the show.

Given that NBC have already cancelled Crusoe, My Own Worst Enemy and Knight Rider, and that they'll most likely also cancel Life and Kings, and given that ER has now finished. I don't think that NBC can be so picky when it comes to something like Chuck, especially considering that the only decent pilot that they've got in the pipeline is that for Day One. It'll get at least 13 episodes IMO.

You just mentioned 6 shows being canceled or ended on NBC, NBC got rid of 5 hours of prime time, so they really don't need to be picky.

I don't get to see Chuck until the DVD comes out, if it does get canceled, was the second season finale workable as a series finale?

I think it's works as a series finale just fine. Better than a lot of episodes that weren't intended as such.

They promised us a big game-changer but what we got was more of a game-tweaker. And I'm not even sure where they can go with it that's at all interesting. I'll certainly watch, I'm just wondering what the deal is.

Stark contrast with Heroes, which really gave the audience a mule-kick in the head with their season finale - I'm very interested in seeing the resolution but I think they've set themselves up for what has to be the final story arc just because of various spoilery reasons I shouldn't go into here.

Well I'm glad I put that comment card in on Monday. That put em over the top, I'm sure of it.

All cliffhangers should be Riker going "Fire!" Or even like Heroes - half the audience is going "Fire TIM KRING!!! RAWR!!!"
