The CW will again try to adapt Warren Ellis’ comic book "Global Frequency," this time Scott Nimerfro will script the pilot.
and from Ellis himself:
Shouldn’t say any more until I get the nod from the studio. But yes.

and no it is not related to Mark Burnett Productions 2005 TV pilot of the same name:

What the heck is that? 24 meets The X-Files?
i initially thought of the "covert intelligence organization" as a good-not-evil SD-6 like group from the TV series "Alias" (2001) and maybe the x-files.
hey if it's sci fi on broadcast TV i'll take it and hope the pilot makes it to air, much less a show gets greenlit.
Oddly the CW is the one this is for considering they are all about the young ladies audience aged 13-25 it seems.

Wonder if Michelle Forbes would be up for another go as Miranda Zero?

If they turn down the "hokey" and turn up the "plausibility of narrative reality" then I might give it a go.

This kind of material always works best when the characters and plot elements are approached from the realistic perspective of a universe where fantastic things can and do occur.

Much like the concept of a super secret agent that can run her own branch of overt intelligence and interdiction units while simultaneously keeping world governments at bay while maintaining relative anonymity.

They'll get some cute young guys in the Robert Pattinson mold to play superpowered spies. :D They have to branch out. They can't have every one of their shows be about bitchy high school girls. Can they?

I do like the idea that some of their missions are not paranormal at all. It would be cool if going into an episode, we have no idea whether there will be any sf/f content, or how heavy it will be.

The only really non sf issue I recall from the Global Frequency series was the one with the free runner. The villain was just some punk terrorist with some generic virus.

The rest were crazy sci-fi, iirc. Like the alien language that rewrites human brains. (Good issue, but the premise is a bit )

And the one where Miranda gets kidnapped.

Hm, yeah, I suppose--although that one does feature a personal flight vehicle and they track her down by hacking webcams in a pseudo-1984-like fashion.

There have been attempts at getting Global Frequency made for years and nothing has come of them. It is so high concept, and potentially expensive, that I just don't see it happening.

I'd love to see it work out, but it won't.
