It would be courteous to allow the poll to run to its stated closing time before declaring a winner, guys. It's not over until June 25, and in my time zone it's still June 24. The poll was still open, so I voted.

^ I admit I was a little confused about that myself... it's still open for another 16.5 hours at this point. I've seen the poll set up not to close, and then it will just be called at a certain point, but I didn't think it was common with polls that had a set closed date. I guess 8 days is a little longer than we normally leave them open, but it didn't seem outside the realm of reasonability.

But I guess maybe it's just part of the drama!

Lucky thing my vote didn't overturn the prematurely-declared results.

But it could have, so that's why I decided to remind people that some of us don't necessarily see these contests right away, so we don't vote right away.

And even though it's been a long time since I used to be a regular entrant, I still do vote in the ones I find appealing.


Besides... considering that some of the caption contests in the Trek forums drag on for weeks before the OP gets around to telling us who won and they put up a new contest, a poll that's open for 8 days is nothing to complain about.

Am I going mental?! Seriously, I could have sworn the poll had no time limit when I looked at it in the last few days. Which is why I asked to have it called early. Maybe I got confused by the idea of a poll being open for ten days. In my defense, @Nerys Myk replying to my initial inquiry with "one more day" certainly didn't help my confusion.

Then maybe I'm not the only late voter? The poll was tied with more than one person having 6 votes, and I only voted for 1, bumping it up to 7. Now I see there's another tie.

I guess it doesn't matter that much, but this is definitely a reminder to watch the poll dates. The poll is still open for a few more hours.

Ask the moderators if someone changed the closing date, since that's something they can do.

The first time I noticed this contest was yesterday, with the June 25 closing date. So I was very confused to see a new contest already started when the old one wasn't finished.

For what it's worth, after voting I noticed that several people had been tied at 6 votes, and my vote broke that tie as I only voted for one avatar. Now I see things are tied again.
