This week's choice is birthday boy Brendan Fraser, who just turned 40 last week.

The son of a Canadian travel executive who frequently moved his family, Brendan can claim affinity with Ottawa, Indianapolis, Detroit, Seattle, London and Rome. His early exposure to theatre, particularly in London, led him to Seattle's Cornish Institute. After graduation he found a minor role as Sailor #1 in River Phoenix's Dogfight (1991), then somewhat more substantial roles in Encino Man (1992) and School Ties (1992). Five more years of supporting work led finally to the title role in George of the Jungle (1997), a role which fully utilized his charm and beefy good looks, as well as offering him a chance to show off his comic talents. He describes this role as the one which dramatically altered his career. Critical raves for his role in Gods and Monsters (1998) pointed to yet another dimension to his dramatic persona. He is perhaps best known for his role as the action-hero in the "Mummy" trilogy. He will also star in the upcoming fanatsy film, Inkheart.

He is an accomplished amateur photographer, with many published works, and is also fluent in French.

In 1998, he was chosen by People Magazine as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world.

It's hard for me to put into words how attractive I find this man. The pictures make it clear he has a nice body, but I think it's his boyish charm and sweet smile that grab me. George of the Jungle is one of my all-time favorite movies. I know it's solid cheese, but I just don't care, because I love Brendan in it so much.

^ Agreed!!!

I have straight male friends who have told me they find this man attractive!

There is something simultaneously sexy, roguish, boyish and downright cuddly about Brendan Fraser. I have realized over many years that one of the things I find MOST attractive in a man(or hell, even a woman!)is their ability to not take themselves too seriously. BF can be the biggest goof, while maintaining a masculine air that is so welcoming and warm and I just find that SOOOO damned sexy about him.

Oh and he has the kind of chest I could lay my head on for a week!!!

Speaking as a straight man (I won't be voting in this thread.), what I found surprising was that 9 years had passed since the first Mummy film and the latest Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, and the man looks the same and he did not age!

I liked the first two Mummy films, but my inner chick is saying, "Talk to the hand."

I give him a "Meh." He seems nice enough, and he absolutely does not age, which is incredible. He's a very good actor in films like The Quiet American and Gods & Monsters, but....I don't know. Maybe it's all those comedies where he played the "dumb guy." I don't find dumb attractive. *shrug*

He does wear a hairpiece though.(a thicker one for films and a more natural one for normal life) He has lost much of his hair in recent years. Not saying that he doesnt look good for 40 but without the hairpiece he does indeed look 40.

heres a pic of him without a toupee.http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/12_01/BRENDAN1104_468x515.jpg

I see where you're coming from, and most of the time I agree. I honestly haven't seen many of his movies, but in the ones I can think of, he doesn't play "dumb" so much as "sweetly naive," which I DO find attractive. :)

To quote First Wives Club, "He's 300 years old, but he's still a stud" ... Thumbs (and other body parts) way up for this man.

I heart Brandon! He's such a cool guy from interviews, and I love most of his movies too. Not to mention (hairpiece or no) he's a hottie :techman:

acutally...2 :techman:'s for being Canadian :D

Agreed! I remember drooling my way through "George of the Jungle" the first time I saw it. Definitely a thumbs up! :bolian:

You know, I really hate that he's losing his hair. Not that I don't find bald men attractive, but his hair has been such a significant element in his career. I mean, look at those pictures! So many of his roles have called for wild, long, or Peter-Petrelli-ish hair. To lose a part of yourself that has been such an iconic part of your look ... it just makes me kinda sad. :(

That said, hairpieces have come a long way, baby! you really wouldn't know to look at him that he wears a piece.

Hoo, mama!

I feel the need to put on a Mummy movie or Journey to the Centre of the Earth DVD :D
