Patrick Hewes Stewart, OBE (born 13 July 1940) is an English film, television and stage actor. He is also Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield. He has had a distinguished career in theatre for nearly fifty years, including performances as various characters in Shakespearean productions. However, he is perhaps most widely known for his roles as Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the starship Enterprise in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and Professor Xavier in the X-Men films.

He left school at 15 to work as junior reporter on local paper but quit when the editor told him he was spending too much time at the theatre and not enough working. He was accepted by Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 1957 and made his professional debut 1959 in Repertory in Lincoln. He officially joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1966, to begin 27-year association. Following a spell with the Royal National Theatre in the mid 80s, he went to Los Angeles to star in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987), which ran from 1987-1994, playing the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

He is currently playing the roles of Claudius and the Ghost in Hamlet alongside David Tennant as the titular Hamlet with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, and received a Tony nomination for portraying the title role in Macbeth.

In 1992, TV Guide named him the "Sexiest Man on Television," and Women on the Web recently named him one of the "50 Hottest Men Over 50."

Oh definitely "make it so!" I think for me, it's a combination of his eyes, his compact body, and his accented voice that makes me a puddle of goo... I swear, Patrick Stewart (and Alan Rickman) could read me the phone book and I'd be entranced!

Yep. :bolian: Not generally a fan of bald blokes but he's the exception that tests the rule. :D

Yes. He gets hotter as he gets older, and he's certainly hotter in real life. There's something about the ways he's self-contained, and obviously still buff that I find quite attractive, actually. Thanks for the shots from Safehouse, by the way. God, I adore that film!

Ick! Thumbs down.

Don't think he's that great of an actor - always seemed like he had a stick up his ass, IMO. And, while not as stiff in real life (from my limited observations at a Trek con), he is still nevertheless too stuffy and stiff form my taste.

Also not a fan of bald, except on certain guys.

Like maybe Chris Daughtry.

Or Avery Brooks - but that doesn't count cus he shaved his head and that's a whole nother level of cool. :D

:techman: From me too...sexiest bald man out there...and I generally like men with lots of hair too :D

Picard and Data were the best things about ST:NG :techman:

Stewart was also in a fave movie of mine, Lady Jane.

I went with sideways.

I don't find him unattractive per se, but I don't come anywhere near getting all excited about him. As an actor I think he's great but as far as looks and sex appeal, he does absolutely nothing for me.

I have to give him a thumbs sideways. I can easily see why so many people find him attractive, but he's old enough to be my grandfather. It's just....weird thinking about him that way.

If I were 20 years older, though...:techman:

"Unknown Captain". I almost went with "Make it so", but then I asked myself the "is he a true hunk question": Do I have the desire to tackle him and rip off his clothes? My honest answer was "Nah, not really". Great voice, great actor, nice bod, but the hormone vote trumps them all with a big fat "MEH".

DAK and me agreeing....weird. :vulcan:

Off topic, I LOVE your av Trippy!!!!!! Is True Blood a great show or what?!

I have to go with thumbs down on him. I think he's a very good actor, but he reminds me of my uncle, and I'd feel incredibly weird if I gave him a thumbs up.

It is! My fave show this season (though it's almost over already...damn you HBO for short seasons!) Very on topic...Stephen Moyer would be an excellent HOTW  I just watched The Starter Wife and oh man, if I didn't think he was hot before...:drool:
