Contest: ENTER TV&M Avatar Contest: In the Army Now (Ends June 8)

So it turns out that today is Memorial Day in the US. Since it's topical, and I'm lazy, this week's contest will be all about Characters in the Military in television, movies, comic books and video games.

Standard avatar rules apply: images must be no larger than 200 x 200 pixels, and 1 MB, and also must be SFW. Each entrant may enter up to two avatars. Since there should be enough non-genre possibilities to choose from, SF&F is not allowed this time out. Please identify your entry. The contest will be open for about a week.

Despite the thread title, your character can be from any military branch, not just the army.

Have fun! :techman:

Last call! I am planning to post the poll Wednesday night.

Also, since there hasn't been a lot of response so far, everyone can now enter up to three entries, if you so desire.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with that movie, and I'm not sure I'll be able to identify the character from that shot. Wikipedia says the main character is William James; is that him?
Yes. It won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director in 2009. Sgt William James of the Ordinance Disposal Unit in Iraq.

Not an entry, but is it possible to put to put the start date and end date in the title? I know the posts are dated but it might make it easier to know if you missed the deadline and the active game. Or have a mod close the entry part when the date comes. Just a suggestion.

In my case, I don't typically know exactly what the end date is going to be, I know a rough estimate, but life often happens, and I don't usually finalize it until a couple of days before. I can technically edit the thread title after the fact, but I think only mods and premium members have that ability, so it wouldn't work for everyone.

As I posted a few days ago, the poll goes up tonight for this one, so only a couple hours left if anyone still wants to enter.

Yeah, when I run them, I usually keep them open for about a week, but I like the option of keeping it a little longer, depending on participation. I do try to give about two days notice.
